Grant and Contract Accounting has an outstanding opportunity for a Grant Analyst. The Grant Analyst serves as a customer services resource working independently to respond to inquires from campus departments, UW central offices, and research sponsors. Duties include; examine and analyze fiscal and/or administrative records, institutional practices and procedures; develop and deliver compliance analytics; develop and deliver compliance outreach and training; as well as to develop and foster relationships with university departments, researchers and sponsors in order to provide collaborative support in the Grant & Contract Accounting office. Customer service responsibilities include employing a comprehensive follow-up tracking system to ensure customer service expectations are met and the appropriate level of clarity was accomplished. The Grant Analyst will ensure that services are executed successfully and completed within needed time frames. The Grant Analyst will review compliance requirements and pro-actively meet with faculty and research administrators to develop risk assessments and initiate outreach, provide oversight and guidance on all post-award financial and non-financial compliance aspects. Additional responsibilities include complex financial compliance and analysis; compliance program guidance; projecting, analyzing, planning, interpreting, and reviewing financial transactions; performing operational assessments; implementing special report requirements; communicating with internal and external University customers; and acting as a University of Washington Research Administration expert resource. This position may also provide project management support for unique and complex projects.Responsibilities:Customer Service*Respond timely to customer inquiries by employing a comprehensive knowledge of award regulations and the University's policies and procedures *Develop and deliver high-quality training; includes developing best practices, training program development, writing and editing, document design, PowerPoint presentation development and effective delivery of training program *Develop and deliver campus-wide communication, including verbal presentations and other written guidance*Consult with funding agencies to resolve problems *Advise and assist University staff and faculty regarding fiscal policies*Interact with other universities to exchange information or confer on fiscal reporting questions*Identify and define the key issues and areas of concern and advise RAA senior management and appropriate department(s) *Review operations for efficiency and propose improvements. *Report to management on results, provide risk assessments, and make recommendations for improvement in operational policies and procedures *Prepare reconciliations and financial reports as needed by GCA leadership *Consult with the department(s) or areas being reviewed to establish an appropriate management/oversight structure for the project*Serve as a resource to coordinate and oversee the implementation of compliance recommendations *Provide direction/guidance to administrative and financial analysis personnel Compliance Program Support*Support and maintain a comprehensive compliance program*Support and maintain multiple reporting and compliance systems, including procedures for implementation of fiscal and compliance operations*Develop universal, sponsor and award specific post-award compliance tools for campus*Develop process and compliance analytics, using results to inform customers, develop new approaches, and create outreach and training materials*Perform complex fiscal analysis on the various types of awards, this includes projecting, analyzing, planning, interpreting, and reviewing fiscal operations to advise appropriate actions including prepare billings, reports, and related reconciliations *Evaluate fiscal and budgeting applications and develop appropriate processes to meet compliance requirements*Conduct statistical analysis involving fiscal and administrative data *Prepare specialized reports including computer budget models used to allocate and track data *Research and determine causative factors in customer questions trends *Examine and analyze fiscal and/or administrative records, and institutional practices and procedures for compliance with internal and external regulations and policies *Examine controls, analyze for effectiveness, develop plan for improvement if necessary, and review with management Other*Other duties as assignedAs a UW employee, you will enjoy generous benefits and work/life programs.
