The Business Intelligence team develops, maintains and implements applications and capabilities that support the easy and timely access and utilization of enterprise data through a source of reference central repository and supporting toolsets. Our primary goal is to provide high quality and timely support and services to our client base in response to Business Intelligence requirements. This includes delivery of quality services that encourage client independence through timely access of all Data Warehouse information.
The Business Intelligence team is directing a BI Modernization program that includes the creation of new centralized data stores and rollout of an enterprise level BI tool. The program is engaging all VC areas in development of data models and BI reporting to address functional requirements. Having significant experience, applies advanced data/information management concepts and campus/medical center/OP objectives to resolve highly complex issues where analyses of situations, information or data require an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Selects methods and techniques to obtain desired results.
This position is responsible for designing and creating extraction, transformation and load (ETL) of data functions for the data warehouse stored on HANA 2.0 in support of BI/Analytic functions. Also must test the designs to ensure data accuracy and loads efficiently. Furthermore, must be expert at taking a big-picture view of a university's data situation. Must be able to read, analyze and digest what a business wants to accomplish with its data, and design the best possible ETL process around those goals.
RESPONSIBILITIES Plans and conducts data analysis efforts for highly complex small and medium-sized projects that may include managing partnerships between multiple institutions. Establishes or maintains information documentation standards such as data naming standards and value domain descriptions. Schedules and conducts analysis sessions. Needs to be able to read, analyze and digest what the business wants to accomplish with its data, and design the best possible ETL process around those goals. Develops and implements highly complex activity hub next generation data warehouse systems serving the entire UCSD campus.
Responsible for the design, integration and implementation of one or more sub-systems of the activity hub supporting the entire campus, ensuring correctness and consistency with overall DW architecture and design. Analyzes requested changes for most appropriate technical solution. Implements and migrates approved software modifications and assures effective installation with users. Designs and implements detailed interfaces between computer systems. Initiates, designs, executes and sustains metadata for collections of digital objects. Collaborates with all developers and business users to gather required data and execute ETL programs. Analyzes and interprets complex data on target systems and provides resolutions to data issues. Provide support for resolution of incidents related to new and legacy data warehousing environments.
Advanced SQL development skills
Experience in data integration and the specification of data services. Must have a minimum of five (5) years experience with hands on development on complex transformations.

Advanced analytical and design skills. Ability to abstract information requirements from real-world processes to understand information flows in computer systems.

Experience with Kafka development.
Experience in NiFi development.
API development experience.
