I represent a large Tennessee road builder that is looking to hire an experienced accountant to manage their job cost accounting function. The job title will be “Assistant Controller – Job Cost Accountant”. The job description will include the following responsibilities:
Working with the estimators to convert the bid costs to the job cost budget in the Viewpoint accounting system and segregating costs by work code and pay items
Coordinating accurate and timely field reporting from project managers and superintendents (labor, equipment usage, etc. Assist field reporting with tablets and laptops
Assistance with transfer of asphalt cost to job cost
Review of job cost coding of materials and supply invoices
Review of job cost coding of subcontractor pay estimates
Internal equipment rental rate calculations and related job cost allocation
Analysis of monthly job cost and related monthly billing. Investigate variances.
Meet with management monthly to update the percentage of completion WIP schedules. Analyze under and over billings to determine amount of fade gain recognition
Assistance with documentation of costs for claims and change orders
Assistance with annual tax lookback calculations.

CPA or CCIFP preferred but not required. Applicants should have at least 3 years of heavy highway or civil construction accounting experience. Experience with Spectrum, Explorer or Viewpoint software is a plus.
