Posting Salary: Recommended Hiring Range is: $120,000 - $135,000, commensurate with experience.
Position Summary: Reporting to and working under the direction of the Associate Director of Real Estate Services & Strategies (RESS), the Real Estate Officer is responsible for managing a wide range of issues encountered in real estate transactions, interpreting University policy, navigating University practices and approval processes, and assuring transactions comply with University policy and best practices in the industry. The position has direct project management responsibilities for a variety of complex real estate matters, and may manage transactions for real estate acquired through the UC endowment or for campus related activities.

Job Close Date:
Leads negotiating teams on purchase, sale, ground lease and P3 development transactions to achieve optimal results for the UC campuses consistent with UC policies and best practices. Supports UC campuses with project management of the transaction, real estate analysis, technical expertise and policy and procedure review.
Provides guidance identifying approaches to transactions that best meet objectives.
Protects the legal, financial and contractual interest of the Regents, limiting the potential for liability.
Transactions involving real estate acquired through the UC endowment may require establishing and monitoring asset management plans.
Job Requirements Bachelor's degree in business, real estate, economics or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience and 3 years of pertinent job experience (i.e. real estate analysis).
Advanced knowledge of real estate principles and practices. Understanding and experience with a wide range of real estate transactions including acquisitions, sales, space leases, easements, and development agreements.
Working knowledge of real estate law and contract interpretation, the California Public Contract Code and other relevant rules, guidelines, policies and practices.
Ability to deal effectively with broad and diverse constituencies ensuring strong customer service orientation and skills.
Advanced listening and political acumen skills. Strong organizational and negotiation skills. Advanced interpersonal skills, including tact, diplomacy and flexibility to establish, interact and maintain working relationships with University departments, University administration, private industry representatives, charitable organizations and governmental agencies.
Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills including good telephone presence and presentation skills. Ability to compile complex data and information, and draft formal documents and produce comprehensive reports. Ability to draft accurate and complex correspondence based upon negotiations
Ability to deal with a multiplicity of demands and projects on an ongoing basis. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment of changing priorities and to maintain accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize assignments, work independently or as a member of a team, as well as be responsive to supervision, exercise excellent business judgment and find creative solutions to problems. Required
Experience in real estate development and ability to apply knowledge from a wide range of associated subject areas including urban planning, entitlement process, environmental review, community engagement, design and construction, finance, contracting, capital projects, economic development and infrastructure.
