General Summary:The Educational Technology and Media unit at Seattle Pacific University is seeking a half-time (0.5 FTE) Instructional Designer. As part of the library and under the direction of the Digital Education Librarian, the Educational Technology and Media unit partners with SPU faculty to develop the digital dimension of their courses (whether on campus, online, blended, or hybrid). This position is a temporary one year appointment as part of a presidential initiative to further the development of online graduate courses. This appointment will focus on ETM's partnership with faculty in the School of Education to develop the online version of the Master of Arts in Teaching.
Collaborates with other members of ETM on this initiative and other projects.
Partners with faculty to design and develop online programs and courses. Make recommendations in how to structure content and supporting activities to optimize learning.
Promotes and instantiate accessible, inclusive design in course development (for example using Universal Design for Learning approaches).
Works with Canvas, Panopto, and other applicable technologies to create or implement, course structures and designs to facilitate teaching and learning.
Provides training and support through consultations, workshops, and other professional learning opportunities.
Provides assistance with general ETM helpdesk support.
Bachelor's degree with significant coursework in Instructional Design, Education, Curriculum, Educational Technology, or other related fields, ORany Bachelor's degree and 3 years experience developing online courses or teaching online or the equivalent.
Experience creating or editing course content in a Learning Management System.
Experience incourse design and developmentand a demonstrated familiarity with pedagogy in online or blended environments.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage and complete complex projects.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly (written and oral) and strong interpersonal skills.
Masters in Instructional Design, Education, Curriculum, or equivalent experience.
Experience inusing Quality Matters, OSQR, or other similar quality review standards for course design.
Demonstrated expertise in learning theory, digital pedagogy, online/blended/flipped instruction.
Experience working with educators in a K12 or HE setting.
Experience in using open licenses and /or tracking copyright compliance.
Experience providing helpdesk and support services.
Position will remain open until filled.
This appointment dates for this position will be for the 2019-2020 academic year, September 30, 2019 through June 30, 2019.
Salary: $22,410(.50 FTE, 9 month appointment)
This is a halftime position with availablebenefits. SPU pays a portion of theemployee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
