We are currently looking for a Transmission Line Engineering Technician who will be responsible for providing primarily drafting support for GRE’s Transmission Division to meet the design requirements.
Supports the design of projects and ensures accuracy by using AutoCAD, GRE and the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) standards and specifications for Transmission projects.
Updates Maximo, Lawson and Primavera with project related data.
Recommends changes to GRE’s AutoCAD standards to maintain uniformity within GRE.
Uses GRE’s PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE software for the design and modification of new and existing transmission lines.
May perform design duties as assigned for transmission line construction projects.
To qualify, you will typically have:
A two-year technical degree (such as drafting, electricity, electronics, or architecture) and typically 0-3+ years of design or utility industry related experience.
A bachelor’s degree in a related technical field AND at least 2 years of design or utility industry experience in a related technical (non-engineering) field.
Drafting experience is preferred.
Strong mechanical aptitude and detail orientation required.
Knowledgeable of utility, environmental, and safety codes and standards.
Knowledgeable of engineering principles within specialty.
Demonstrated skill in using industry-and job-related software, including AutoCAD, highly preferred.
Ability to collect and analyze field data.
Ability to design drawings for review by engineers.
Strong project management, problem solving, and teamwork skills.
Ability to identify and distinguish colors is required.
