Responsible for recommending and facilitating process improvement efforts for complex systems for all areas of the UTA campus. Creates process change by integrating new processes with existing ones and communicating these changes to impacted Business Operational teams. Focus on process analysis and re-engineering, with an understanding of technical problems and solutions as they relate to the current and future business environment. Responsible for defining the project, engaging staff impacted by the process, analyzing the data, mapping the process current and future state status, and maintaining strong team communication. May lead re-engineering team and act as project manager in some cases.
Business Process Design and improvement: Analyze campus partner's operations to understand their strengths and weaknesses to determine opportunities to automate processes and functions. Participate in complex, cross-functional, high-visibility transformational process, system and integration projects, process improvement and/or risk mitigation projects that align with the organizations strategic goals. Develop and facilitate discovery sessions, planning meetings, training sessions, and facilitate process improvement meetings. Perform analysis and documentation of existing and new business processes that span multiple areas of the organization. Propose, tailor, and develops quality/process re-engineering improvement efforts to provide return-on-investment or operational improvement. Conducts benchmarking, activity modeling, and surveys. Map current vs. future state by conducting workshops and documenting business flows. Develop scalable processes to support and benefit the organizations growth and vision. Drive end-to-end process (re) design and performance improvements and successfully deliver targeted results. Act as change agent, and process improvement subject matter expert. Support Business Change Management and business user testing initiatives across the organization. Requirements Analysis and Execution: Collaborate with stakeholders in specifying business processes, including function prioritization and develop use cases to support implementation. Illustrate the flow of the business process using mapping tools to visualize the flow of the current and future state status of the process. Coordinate the cross functional teams in the business process improvement methodology. Formulate and defines systems scope and objectives based on both user needs and a good understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements. Translates high level business requirements into functional specifications for the IT organization and manages changes to such specifications. Design metric plans for business processes. Coaching: Provides guidance and coaching to Business Process team members and Project/Product Managers. Provide guidance and coaching to campus leaders championing continuous process improvement. Support campus training efforts on business process improvement methodology. Other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in one of the following areas: business management, management information or computer systems, engineering, organizational development, computer technology or related field. Three to five years of experience in business analysis, operations and project management or the equivalent experience. Ability to manage projects independently with transparent communication with the project team and department team. Experience successfully identifying, scoping and driving process improvement projects. Excellent organization, teamwork, problem solving, presentation, customer service and communication (verbal and written) skills. Proven ability to engage and facilitate cross functional teams. Comfortable with different and challenging personalities; ability to manage difficult or sensitive situations with tact and professionalism. Strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and multi-tasking skills with great attention to detail. Experience with common analysis techniques to support the process lifecycle. Techniques could include, but are not limited to Observation, Process Mapping, Process Analysis, Use Cases, Interviews, Prioritization, Business Cases, Decision Analysis, Metric Design, etc. Proven confidence and flexibility in dynamic environments with ability to adapt to shifting priorities. Strong MS Office skills (Word, Excel) are required. Ability to work well with all organizational levels.
Business Process or Business Analysis Certification Program, such as: Lean, Six Sigma, PMP, CBAP or other Quality certification a strong preference. Experience with industry process frameworks and models. Experience as a business analyst in a higher education environment. Experience with conducting training on process improvement.
