Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Senior Grants Specialist for the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) at Rutgers-New Brunswick. The core purpose of the Office of Research and Innovation (ORI) at Rutgers-New Brunswick is to advance innovative research across the institution's various schools, research centers, and institutes. Situated within the Office of the Provost and Executive Vice Chancellor for Research and Academic Affairs, ORI provides programming and services to faculty to support new interdisciplinary research initiatives and aid in the development of large-scale team research grants. It works closely with colleagues across Rutgers, including research deans and faculty, staff at research centers and institutes, and Rutgers' central Office of Research and Economic Development.This position is a role that assume leadership responsibilities for managing responses to large-scale external funding opportunities for faculty research. This new position reports to the Senior Program Director.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Provides project management and grant writing assistance to faculty submitting large interdisciplinary external grant proposals.
Oversees limited submission opportunities for Rutgers-New Brunswick and manages internal seed funding applications.
Works closely with: research offices and grant development specialists across all schools at Rutgers-New Brunswick, faculty from diverse disciplines across the campus, research staff at the various advanced research institutes and centers, the Rutgers Office of Research and Economic Development, and partners at RU Foundation and the Corporate Engagement Center.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a master's degree in a related field.
Requires a minimum of three years relevant experience in pre-award grant support, and a strong background in grant writing for research projects.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Close attention to detail, superior oral communication skills, computer literacy
Also requires the ability to grasp and summarize new concepts and information in an accurate and concise manner
Must be comfortable working in a dynamic and diverse work environment
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Background in grant writing and/or project management support for public-private partnerships would be viewed favorably
Knowledge of systems such as RAPSS, NSF Fastlane, eRA Commons and grants.gov is a plus.
Standard office equipment such as copiers, fax machines and scanners, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access). Grant submission systems (e.g. RAPSS, Fastlane, eRA Commons), University procurement and expense management systems.
