This position will be filled at the Lead level salary range of $89,231 - $127,600 as the primary goal. The requirements listed below reflect the Lead level expectation. Information and Technology Services (ITS) has an exciting opportunity for a Salesforce Application Architect Senior to join Enterprise Application Services within ITS.
This role will help build a Center of Excellence within ITS to serve the entire campus by working with business partners and helping to design the technology strategy for the University to realize the full capability of the Salesforce Customer Relationship Management (CRM). You’ll be responsible for driving the overall high level technology strategy for Salesforce including Salesforce org strategy, data and integration strategy. The Salesforce Appplication Architect will also help assure that the detailed design, development, and implementation of Salesforce across campus is aligned with the campus-wide strategy and governance. The position reports to the Director of Enterprise Application Services.

Application, Data and Integration Architecture
Define the process for creating, documenting, and leveraging the application architecture in support of ITS goals and imperatives
Create standards for application development, integration, and reuse
Identify common patterns, produce reference architectures, and contribute to architecture reviews in the application, integration and data architecture areas
Understand, advocate and augment the principles of information technology strategies.
Identify/publish standard application components or methods for reuse
Document the current state as needed to help identify projects for improvement
Develop a road map of the evolution of the enterprise application portfolio from current to future state
Review incoming projects for commonality, appropriate domain / Salesforce Org placement, and consistencies with the application, data and integration architectural direction
Analyze the IT environment to detect critical deficiencies, and recommend solutions for improvement
Facilitate the evaluation and selection of software product standards, as well as the design of standard software configurations
Participate in service disruption investigations to identify architectural problems
Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of University use of the Salesforce application, data and integration environments and solutions, including security and identity components
As a member of the ITS Technical Team, review project efforts for architectural impact, provide architectural guidance to projects, and develop process improvements for including architectural consideration in project management methodologies
In collaboration with service owners, architects, project managers and other technologists during the lifecycle of solution delivery, support the design and development of solutions that meet requirements, adhere to applicable policies, and comply with ITS architecture guidelines.
Ensure ITS architecture documents are current. This includes identifying existing architecture components to document/update; collecting information; support of training information owners; and visualizing architecture models
Support/analyze the current ITS architecture. This includes diagnosing architectural problems; identifying improvement opportunities; collecting community input; analyzing root causes; and making recommendations on improvements
Support and guide the evolution of the university’s Salesforce application, data and integration architecture. This includes providing subject matter expert support to design and recommend target architectures, and providing descriptions and illustrations of the reference architecture components such as business, data/information, technology, etc.
Evaluate proposals, RFPs, and proposed solutions for consistency with the ITS architectural strategy for Salesforce
Research, analyze, design, and define the future direction for Salesforce in collaboration with campus partners as well as ITS resources and application
Stay current with relevant advances in technologies. Responsible for maintaining, updating, and sharing knowledge of architecture concepts and practices, procedures, hardware, software, and technical services. This can include: on-the-job training, attending technical courses or conferences, reading, research, and testing
Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology and/or equivalent combination of education, certification and experience
Minimum of six (6) years of relevant Salesforce application, data and/or integration architecture experience
Understand of software engineering and application design with the ability to abstract concepts as well as teach the concepts to peers
Understand and track industry trends and maintain knowledge of new technologies that could impact ourSalesforce implementation
Expert level understanding of the Salesforce product suite, including Sales, Service, Community, and Marketing Clouds, as well as the Force.com Platform
Experience in software engineering /development being applied to delivered project
Required to maintain own high-speed residential connectivity service
Demonstrated effective creative problem solving and flexibility when collaborating with customers, team members, support teams, external vendors, and technical organizations to understand, advocate for, evaluate, and support enhancements, resulting in plans and services that leverage the capabilities of existing technology and meet customer and organizational expectations
