Information and Technology Services (ITS) is seeking a Business Systems Analyst (BSA) Intermediate in the Infrastructure Systems group. This position will report to the Director of Systems.
This BSA position will require analysis of business processes and systems, supporting production services, and working on new projects related to enhancing the ability of University’s infrastructure to withstand and respond to disasters. As a member of a high performing team, the BSA will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with cross-functional teams to support and strengthen the underlying infrastructure such as compute, storage, and networks that the University’s systems rely on.

Work with teams across ITS Infrastructure to understand, assess, and analyze existing systems and processes to find areas that can be strengthened and improved upon to enhance the reliability and stability of our systems and services
Work on projects and activities to improve reliability of ITS systems by paying down technical debt
Continually assess disaster recovery plans and system architectures to ensure that they will meet the recovery objectives and campus expectations
Create and update documentation related to the current state of disaster recovery and avoidance across ITS’s Infrastructure
Ensure that processes exist and are followed to keep disaster recovery plans up to date, especially after system changes
Create and update disaster recovery plans as necessary
Participate in disaster recovery tests to ensure that ITS systems and services are performing as expected, especially in the event of a disaster
Work with campus and ITS stakeholders to ensure that ITS services continue to meet expectations with regards to reliability, stability, and performance
Interact with stakeholders, customers, and/or users to collect and document requirements for the system under development, implementation, or upgrade. Skills include interviewing, documentation, analyzing requirements to identify ambiguities and conflicts, and working with stakeholders to resolve these issues. Design includes compliance and regulatory issues. Gather, document and analyze requirements using standards for system development methodologies in use. Work with customers and users to design valid and desirable solutions
Develop and execute test plans to ensure that a product or system meets design specifications, security, and other requirements
Lead cross-functional meetings within and outside of ITS, including informational and/or fact-finding meetings. Plan and execute effective, efficient meetings
Work, as assigned, with vendors. Understand and utilize service level agreements. Contribute to the creation, selection and review of Requests for Proposals
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Computer Science, Information Systems or equivalent combination of education and experience
Two (2) years of related experience in a process area or systems support; to include systems analysis and design
Demonstrated skills in business systems analysis, design, and system testing.
Demonstrated skills in gathering, translating, prioritizing, and documenting system requirements
Demonstrated skills in process modeling tools and techniques.
Demonstrated skills in facilitating team meetings and collaborating with customers on the resolution of business process issues
Demonstrated ability to learn new software, understand technical information, and communicate it to others using clear, concise, and user-friendly language
Demonstrated effective creative problem solving and flexibility when collaborating with customers, team members, support teams, external vendors, and technical organizations to understand, advocate for, evaluate, and support enhancements, resulting in plans and services that leverage the capabilities of existing technology and meet customer and organizational expectations.
