Enjoy life near the Cascade Mountains teaching Communication Studies classes at Central Washington University (CWU). The Department of Communication at CWU seeks an Assistant Professor for a tenure-track position, with productive scholarship and service expectations in addition to teaching. The Department supports a thriving major program in Communication Studies as well as minors in Organizational Communication and Communication, and also offers degrees in Public Relations, Digital Journalism, and Film.
The successful candidate will be a communication generalist who demonstrates strong theoretical and broad methodological knowledge, including quantitative, qualitative, and/or rhetorical methods, and the ability to teach a variety of Communication Studies courses.

This position begins in September 2020.
Ph.D. in Communication or related field by September 15, 2020.
Demonstrated record of university level teaching experience (minimum 1 year).
Demonstrated commitment to diversity of race, religion, culture, gender, sexual orientation and gender identity, and socioeconomic status.
Demonstrated outstanding teaching experience in both face-to-face and online contexts in general communication studies.
Teaching experience in a broad variety of undergraduate communication courses. (The core courses of the Communication Studies major include Introduction to Human Communication, Communication Theory, Persuasion and Culture, Interpersonal Communication, Intercultural Communication, Organizational Communication, Public Speaking, Nonverbal Communication, Gender Communication, Conflict and Communication.)
Ability to coordinate curriculum delivery, design new courses, and conduct assessment for our Communication Studies program.
Experience with successful teaching practices to meet the needs of a diverse student population.
