The Library Department at St. Catherine University invites applicants for an Online Learning Librarian. The Online Learning Librarian position is a teaching-focused position, both within the traditional and online classroom. Through using and promoting effective digital pedagogy and Universal Design for Learning the Online Learning Librarian will provide leadership and guidance for developing outcomes and assessment for the delivery of information literacy education through online services and resources. Librarians design, deliver, and assess information literacy instruction & research services for diverse students, faculty, and staff whose primary areas of study, teaching, and research fall within the librarian’s academic subject and program responsibilities.
Responsibilities: • Development of innovative approaches to information and research services tailored to the user populations. • Information literacy instruction in an environment committed to student success. • Collaborate with librarians, faculty, student support services, instructional designers, writing and quantitative skills tutors, and other campus partners to support student learning. • Provides in-depth, specialized consultation in support of the entire research lifecycle as well as individual and group consultations in designated subject areas. • Collaborates in the design, teaching and assessment of instructional materials. • Serve on Library, consortium, and University committees. • Investigate, implement, and manage enhancements to online library services for students, faculty, and staff to support all courses. • Apply inclusive, learner-centered pedagogy to create and implement a program of integrated online information literacy instruction and support. • Serve as a resource to faculty and staff to enhance the use of e-learning resource in the area of research and instruction. • Promote, assess, and develop accessible teaching and learning objects in a variety of formats, including open educational resources (OERs) and subscription-based content.

Required Qualifications: • Master’s degree in library science from an ALA accredited institution. • Two years of professional librarian experience. • Two or more years of instruction experience, preferably in an academic library environment. • Demonstrated knowledge of a breadth of pedagogical approaches. • Familiarity with principles of universal design and accessibility best practices. • Course work, certificate, or degree in instructional design. • Familiarity with the ACRL Framework • Familiarity with instruction assessment techniques • Experience with commonly used academic technologies, course management systems, and e-learning tools (Brightspace D2L, Camtasia, Quizlet, etc.) • Strong service orientation • Demonstrated ability to work independently, collaboratively, and creatively in a rapidly changing environment. • Strong and effective communication, organizational, analytical, and problem solving skills. • Ability to work with and respond to a diverse community in a manner that is professional, helpful and respectful of all people.
Preferred Qualifications: • 1-2 years’ experience providing reference and research assistance • Additional degree in education or related field • Online teaching experience • Knowledge of tools and standards for creating accessible online learning objects • Experience leading campus initiatives around online learning or digital literacy. • Experience working cross-functionally to manage projects, workflows, or systems.
