The Department of Psychology at Michigan State University is seeking to recruit a faculty member with expertise in industrial and organizational psychology or a related field for a tenure system appointment at the associate professor level starting Fall 2020. The ideal candidate will have established a strong program of visible research, a history of (or clear potential for) external funding, and a demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching. We are particularly interested in applicants researching issues related to the future of work. Examples of such topics might include the rise of virtual work, contingent employee/employer work arrangements, more diverse workforces, automation and artificial intelligence applications, human-agent or robot interactions, human-robot teaming, the aging workforce, global leadership, reskilling, and the intersection of work with digital and social media. However, this list is not meant to be comprehensive—the ideal candidate may well have interests related to the future of work that are not represented by the description above.
The candidate recruited for this position would join an active, intellectually diverse, and productive group of scholars interested in organizational and work behavior in the Department of Psychology (www.iopsych.msu.edu) as well as elsewhere in the university. Due to the diversity of our interests, our students are exposed to a variety of ways of thinking and methodologies for conducting research, and our faculty pursue ideas that cross the boundaries separating conventional domains of research.
