Provide analytical, financial and budgetary support in the maintenance and development of the university's base budget and perform budgetary analysis to ensure the best utilization of the university's resources.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related analytical field and experience equivalent to four or more years of employment in budget management or related work. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and budgeting practices. Well-developed ability and skill in written, verbal, and interpersonal communication. Ability to analyze financial data. Advanced ability and knowledge of automated financial systems and personal computer applications: spreadsheet and database. Ability to provide leadership and direction. Advanced proficiency in Excel; Skill in written and interpersonal communication; Ability to communicate effectively with all components of the University and external constituents; project management.

Essential Functions and percent of time::
80%-Maintain and assist in the development of the university budget. Review/Approve budget transfers. Initiate funds transfers for appropriate budget transfer, keeping the operating ledger in balance. Assist Business Managers and other University stakeholders in providing information and defining processes for position management and budget/financial analysis. Prepare and distribute budget reports to departments when necessary. Responsible for ad hoc training to the university on how to complete budget related processes. Compile financial data using independent judgment to resolve problems and to ensure appropriate and accurate financial records. Work on assigned complex projects of a financial nature. Submit findings/results to supervisor; recommending options/alternatives to be used. Monitor transactions affecting various university funds. Assist in the development of budgetary processes to be implemented to the university to maintain consistency in reporting and data analysis. Participate in the budget development process by providing analysis on current and prior year funding and FTE transactions. Assist in monthly reporting variance analysis. Position control / management and vacancy credit analysis.
Position will operate within a typical office setting. Normal hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
