The Senior Engineer is an exempt position with an annual salary range of $94,633 - $132,487; paid bi-weekly
The Senior Project Manager / Engineering Controller is an exempt position with an annual salary range of $115,302 - $161,422; paid bi-weekly
The Director of Engineering is an exempt position with an annual salary range of $140,484 - $196,677; paid bi-weekly
The ideal candidate will perform a variety of engineering work in connection with design & construction of Agency operations related projects. This work will include preparation of design drawings; preparation of technical specifications; preparation of contract documents for bidding or for requesting quotes; contract administration for construction, repair, maintenance projects; preparation of cost estimates; evaluation of repair, maintenance, replacement needs or alternatives; presentations to Agency Committee’s & Board of Directors for projects; preparation of staff reports; working closely with and responding to Operations. Work may require selection, coordination, direction, & management of various types of consultants for a project. Knowledge and experience in design, construction, and contract management is highly desirable.
Mojave Water Agency is seeking an Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical) interested in design, construction, operation, & maintenance of the Agency’s water related facilities. The Agency currently has a State Water Project raw water delivery system and a wholesale potable water system. The Agency’s raw water facilities include 3 large diameter (54” dia to 24” dia) transmission water lines (70 miles long, 80 miles long and 3 miles long) connected to the State Water Project Aqueduct, traveling screens, drum strainer, large diameter pressure reducing sleeve valves, pressure reducing Cla-Vals, flow control valves, large diameter flow meters, and booster pumps that deliver State water project water to percolation areas which replenish groundwater for local groundwater well pumping. In addition, the Agency has a wholesale potable water system that has ground water wells, chlorination equipment, booster pumps, storage reservoirs, large diameter flow meters, large diameter transmission pipeline (36”) that delivers water to four connection points for retail customers (Victorville, Hesperia, Liberty Utility Apple Valley, Adelanto). The Agency has also just constructed an 0.8 MW hydro-electric turbine but has the potential for development of many more sites. The Agency’s Engineer would be responsible for all phases of the design, construction, operation, & maintenance of the Agency’s facilities.

perform & evaluate complex, and difficult professional, analytical, and administrative work involving the use of independent judgment and personal initiative; responsible for all aspects of construction, repair, maintenance, and replacement contracts; principles and practices of engineering, with emphasis on the planning, design, construction, operation maintenance, repair and replacement of large water delivery systems; project management, contract negotiations and project implementation; long-range planning for new infrastructure as well as maintenance, repair, replacement of existing infrastructure; knowledge of contracting and budgeting preparation and administration; plan and direct the execution of public works construction contracts for both small and large capital projects; ability to read and understand contract documents, construction drawings and specifications.

Qualified candidates will possess:
For the Senior Engineer:
BA Degree in Civil Engineering, Geology or Hydrogeology, or other related field, and five (5) years of experience performing water supply and delivery work (engineering work and project management). License & Certifications are: Valid California Class C Driver’s License and current automobile insurance and Licensure as a Professional Engineer or Licensed Professional Geologist, State of California.
For the Senior Project Manager / Engineering Controller:
BA Degree in Engineering, and ten (10) years related experience (design and construction of infrastructure/water delivery & supply); and two (2) years of project management or supervisory experience. License & Certifications are: Valid California Class C Driver’s License and current automobile insurance and Licensure as a Professional Engineer, State of California and Certified Operator (any level) desired.
For the Director of Engineering:
BA Degree in Civil Engineering (or related) and ten (10) years of professional civil, mechanical & structural engineering experience, and four (4) years of project management or supervisory experience.License & Certifications are: Valid California Class C Driver’s License and current automobile insurance and Licensure as a Professional Engineer, State of California.
