SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of Development, the Communications Coordinator will implement strategies and messaging that will directly advance Howard Area Community Center’s mission and organizational goals through communications and marketing activities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
This position is responsible for executing the communications strategy and marketing plans for Howard Area Community Center. In this role, the Communications Coordinator will develop website content, manage social media on a daily basis, help to write key publications, and gather stories and photos that document the work of HACC and its network. This position also represents the agency in internal and external collaboration for enterprise-wide and departmental projects.
General Development & Internal Communications
Plan and implement all aspects of marketing for HACC. Align marketing materials across channels. Preserve and promote Howard Area Community Center brand and voice.
Develop and maintain communications calendar.
Maintain systems and processes to collect agency photos, footage and external media features.
Collaborate with program department marketing contacts to implement agency communications strategy with focus on editorial quality, consistent messaging and branding across all platforms.
Lead internal staff communications including the development of an internal newsletter, providing support for agency-wide emails, and the redesign and maintenance of staff intranet.
Perform media requests and follow up, while serving as an agency media contact as needed.
Website & Social Media Management
Update and maintain website written content.
Develop and implement strategies for refreshing content, improving navigation, implementing accessibility standards, increase/track website and social media engagement.
Monitor social media and news for posts about HACC, agency services, community events or other related topics.
Create and maintain guidelines for department//program individual social media platforms.
Manage the general agency social media accounts and postings.
Marketing & Communication Publications
Lead the development of fundraising communications including but not limited to newsletters for donors and volunteers, annual reports, and event materials.
Creatively promote Howard Area Community Center’s events, services, programs, and volunteer opportunities.
Develop print materials including flyers, posters, and invitations.
Write press releases and send them to appropriate press outlets as needed.
Maintain press list with accurate contact information.
Assist in analyzing and reporting impact of communications on organizational success.
Monitor, evaluate, and utilize data to determine strategy. Identify trends and provide recommendations for new ways to promote Howard Area Community Center’s brand and mission.
Demonstrate a commitment to cultural diversity and the ability to work with individuals or groups from diverse backgrounds.
Serve as a collaborative member of the HACC staff.
Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisor.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BS in Communications or Marketing with 2-3 years of related experience or Associates Degree plus 4-6 years of related experience.
Demonstrate success, preferably in the non-profit community, with experience in a communications, marketing, ang graphic design.
Knowledge and demonstrated experience with MS Office with advanced skills Adobe and Wordpress. Experience with donor database software is a plus.
