Manages the Transfer application review process. Serves as primary member of training team. Oversees admissions activities for a geographic territory within the United States, developing a recruitment strategy and managing a team of application readers for that region.
Manages a geographic admissions territory within the United States; determines where and how to recruit within the territory and develops recruitment strategy to meet University enrollment goals and University strategic plan.
Coordinates and executes 4 - 5 weeks of travel annually, visiting high schools and conducting information sessions; also conducts information sessions on campus.
Assigns and manages travel of admission officers within territory.
Builds and maintains productive relationships with college counselors and community-based organizations in support of recruitment initiatives.
Track, evaluate and report relevant recruitment statistics.
Answer student/family queries by phone, email, and in person.
Oversees the evaluation of over 3,000 applications per year, as well as training and managing a team of 3–4 full-time and part time readers.
Supports the director of transfer admission in recruitment and review of transfer applications including: distributing files across admissions committee, monitoring reading pace, overseeing final decisions, coordinating decision release
Serves as point person for transfer applicant queries.
Together with recruitment team, develops outreach and yield strategies to grow and strengthen transfer pool and bring admits to campus.
Develop staff training resources and lead staff onboarding and training team
Manage staff duty calendar.
Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Minimum 3 years of experience in college admissions/recruiting
Experience in administration, project management, customer service, public relations, supervision, and/or event coordination.
Minimum Competencies: (Skills, knowledge, and abilities.)
Excellent communication skills.
Strong presentation skills; ability to speak effectively before audiences of up to 500 or more.
Requires valid driver's license and frequent business travel by plane.
Ability to work effectively with time and volume pressures. Must be able to meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate with diverse Northwestern community including admission staff, students/families, and alumni.
Ability to meet department and university goals.
Ability to work outside normal business hours including evening and weekends.
Requires independent judgment, discretion and diplomacy.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Preferred Qualifications: (Education and experience)
Successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a master's or higher degree; OR appropriate combination of education and experience.
Background in highly selective college admissions.
Familiarity with Northwestern.
