Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking an Executive Director, Finance & Operations for Office of Research and Economic Development (ORED). As part of ORED, the Executive Director of Finance and Operations is the chief operating officer of ORED and is foundational in supporting the strategic objectives of the dozen functional groups that comprise Research and Economic Development. The Executive Director is directly responsible for oversight of all financial and administrative functions, including finance and accounting, budgeting, information technology, quality control and data integrity, human resources, communications, and ORED facilities.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
As a member of the ORED senior leadership team, the Executive Director of Finance and Operations acts as an active contributor and advisor on internal, tactical and strategic initiatives.
Actively collaborates with and is responsible for coordinating cross-functional activities throughout the university, including central university groups such as Finance, UHR, OIT, UCM and Facilities, as well as the four Chancellor units.
Directs all organizational, fiscal and administrative operations under the auspices of the SVP including: administrative, business, fiscal, administration of human resources policies, personnel issues and programs, information technology and computer systems, quality control of data and data reporting, real estate/space planning, facilities construction and renovations and maintenance, and communications with internal and external constituencies.
Works collaboratively to support university-wide strategic initiatives and executes duties within the regulatory, policy and compliance guidelines as set forth by the university.
Oversees staff which includes: the director of finance, director of HR, director of IT, director of communications, director of data management and their respective teams.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Requires a bachelor's degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
A minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in strategic and operational planning, financial analysis, and/or business operations, human resource management, information technology, facilities management and communications.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Solid project management experience; ability to develop, monitor and evaluate multiple and complex projects with multiple deliverables and deadlines
Able to balance competing priorities, complex situations, and tight deadlines
Must be able to plan, organize and strategically lead the implementation of plans and processes to facilitate increased efficiency and effectiveness of the ORED organization
Must be a strategic problem solver and effectively manage individuals in a dynamic and complex environment
Able to work with and communicate well with others, demonstrate leadership, possess strong interpersonal skills and support the vision for the organization
Must have the ability to communicate and interact with a high degree of professionalism with executive level personnel across the university.
This position must have demonstrated knowledge of budget, human resource policies, project management and effective communication skills in order to perform the job duties that are required.
This specialized knowledge is essential in order to work effectively with senior university management, EVPAA, Chancellors, President, faculty and staff.
Use of personal vehicle in order to travel for business demands; a valid driver's license would be required for this position.
Experience working in a higher education and/or public sector setting preferred.
Microsoft Office suite, Oracle financial software, HCM software.
