About the Position:
This position serves as a Business Analyst responsible for conducting research and analysis of business needs to identify and develop requirements for operational and technical solutions. The Business Analyst will work closely with stakeholders throughout the University to proactively communicate and collaborate in understanding business functions, associated processes and mapping them to technology needs. The Business Analyst will be responsible for evaluating applications, determining how business processes fit and documenting recommendations for improvements. Additional responsibilities include product research to help identify technology solutions; testing support to ensure solutions meet business needs; training support for end-users on how to use systems; support to operational staff for workflow development and identifying process efficiencies; and creating design and requirements documentation.
This role is key to helping solve challenges in translating functional needs to technical instructions for successful implementation and understanding among multiple stakeholders. The Business Analyst will primarily work with the Student Experience Redesign teams charged with implementing solutions within technology, business, and operations management to build large scale, effective education innovations for Mason students.
Specific tasks include, but not limited to:
Develop and manage user usability testing to analyze systems solutions that support overall business strategies including facilitating student focus groups and stakeholder advisory sessions;
Conduct technical discovery exercises to identify technical solutions and platforms that meet business needs;
Document system requirements, define scope and objectives, and create system specifications that drive system development and implementation, ensuring traceability between all artifacts;
Work closely with functional areas to analyze and support numerous complex business processes and procedures, offering recommendations to streamline and create efficiencies;
Assist with the creation and maintenance of functional and technical process documentation;
Work collaboratively with implementation partner, end-user community and Information Technology Services (ITS) to support testing end-to-end solutions of system to ensure requirements are met;
Support the development of training materials for end-users on how to use the product(s);
Support project management activities (e.g. developing scope, scheduling tasks/resources, tracking and documenting status).
Master's degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience;
Skills conducting research and developing a good understanding of the student/administrative staff/faculty needs and new technologies;
Strong ability to facilitate service/process mapping sessions with stakeholders to help drive system design and requirements development;
Experience with typical phases of the product development lifecycle, including analysis, design, testing, and integration of products as well as the introduction of products to the user community;
Experience with developing requirements documents, process workflow diagrams, functional specifications, and mock ups to clearly illustrate product ideas and concepts;
Experience using flowchart and diagramming tools;
Demonstrated experience working in a complex stakeholder project environment;
Experience with project management (e.g., attention to process detail, planning, and task management);
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, collaboration and influence skills;
Demonstrated analytics skills.
Knowledge and experience with CRMs, preferably Salesforce;
Higher education experience.
Salary: Commensurate with education and experience.
