The Division of Student Success provides campus-wide coordination and leadership for student success programs and activities across departments, divisions, colleges, and administrative units. The Student Success Division includes the Student Success Evaluation & Research Center (SSERC), Student Achievement and Equity Innovation, Student Health and Wellness, the Career Center, and Student Development and Engagement/Dean of Students.

Under the general supervision of the Associate Dean of Students & Chief of Staff, the Director of Basic Needs Programs supervises the day-to-day administration of the basic needs programs offered by the Dean of Students Office. The incumbent partners with the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems (CASFS) and the Blum Center to develop the vision, direction, and implementation of an inclusive co-curricular learning and community space focused on cultivating food, housing, health and wellness, and financial security resources for UC Santa Cruz students. The incumbent fosters strong collaboration between multiple campus and community resources, including partners in the City and County of Santa Cruz. The incumbent directly supervises a full-time Basic Needs Coordinator and a team of student staff members. The incumbent utilizes a high degree of cultural fluency in order to support historically underrepresented, marginalized and/or underserved students. The incumbent serves on the Dean of Students' leadership team and supports the activities, programs, and services associated with the functions of the Dean of Students office.

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
Advanced knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Advanced knowledge of Student Affairs/Student Life specialization.
Skills in judgment and decision-making, problem solving, identifying measures of system performance and the actions to improve performance.
Advanced abilities in project management, problem identification and reasoning skills.
