The WVU Extension Service (WVUES) at West Virginia University is seeking applications for a Professional Technologist 2.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Be proficient in Web/Application Administration by p roviding system administration of existing applications, work with developers on enhancements and maintenance requests to several in-house systems. Problems and support needs include, but are not limited to: user accounts, password resets, report building, implementation, and custom field creations, data manipulation and reporting. Under the direction of WVU ES Communications, create/revise/update web pages for the 4-H Program by uploading files, and posting up-to-date information regarding 4-H and its programs.
Database Administration: Conduct database construction and reporting in event management & eCommerce software, including specialized queries and reports, and customized data fields utilizing data manipulation languages such as SQL and ad-hoc systems.
Project Technology Computer/Software Management: Conduct database construction and reporting in event management & eCommerce software. As a member of the technology team, meet primarily with each 4-H Extension Specialists along with other team members for each 4-H project/event to develop a technology strategy, to work throughout the event planning period to monitor that all team members are kept on task with data input, and to review the technology issues at the post-event debriefing.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Information Systems Analysis/Design/Management
PC Hardware/Software and Data Processing
Leadership in managing professional programming activities
Project Management experience
Working knowledge of applications software.
Ability to learn Slate and Clean Slate content management system, Adobe Acrobat Pro, and various photo management software applications.
Working knowledge of HTML.
Skill in oral and written communication including telephone etiquette when interacting with non-technical employees regarding computer/software troubleshooting.
Strong interpersonal skills, exemplary people and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
Interpersonal skills necessary when interacting with non-technical employees regarding computer troubleshooting.
Ability to diagnose data management software problems both on-site and via telephone and e-mail.
