Reporting directly to the Director of Student Communications for the Division of Student Development and Campus Life, the Student Communications Technical Developer is responsible for composing, editing, maintaining, and supporting web and media information systems and supporting the Division wide IT projects.Â Responsibilities include management of information systems, email communications and web-based application services and support for Self Service Banner, Luminis Portal, Banner Mobile, Rave alert messaging, digital signage and related applications and media.
Support the development and execution of content for the daily and intermittent Red Hawk News communications.
Maintain student-centric and division websites. Collaborate with campus partners on site development.
Manage the content for the campus portal (NEST).Â
Own and evolve the mobile (NEST Mobile) application facilitating student and faculty access to Banner and potentially other mobile applications.
Coordinate enterprise messaging published via NEST or digital signage across campus. This includes messaging about emergencies, campus events, campus deadlines, etc.
Participate in the review of technical business processes; make recommendations for change, including automated solutions.
Implement specifications for the maintenance and enhancement of student information systems and functional technologies.
Collaborate with campus partners in the design and user experience of current and future student-centric applications.
Evaluate the need for and appropriately recommend future system enhancements and additional functionality, based on industry evolution and user experience.
Using appropriate computer software tools write queries or design and produce reports. Analyze data to ensure accurate reporting. Maintain and regularly review an inventory of legacy reports, system delivered reports and customized reports.
Work with the Office of Information Technology to identify application security requirements and develop sophisticated reports, imports and/or exports.
Complete tasks as assigned to support the implementation of new technologies. Participate in fit gap and prototyping sessions, configuring systems, testing configurations, setting up tables, importing and exporting data and resolving issues.
Train department staff and create/update training documentation in the use of various technologies.
Troubleshoot and analyze system issues, thinking 'outside' the box ability to develop and test various business process scenarios.
Respond to inquiries from students, parents, college officials and government agencies as appropriate.
Ensure accuracy in maintaining database, web sites and associated records.
Provide support during department/division/University service events.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelorâ™s Degree
Two years of professional work experience in information/communication systems, email marketing, technical construction and testing, including user experience data collection, or other field directly related to the position, or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority
Experience with utilizing software applications such as those used for building web page content, MS Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite and/or Google Suite/Google Analytics
Masterâ™s Degree in computer science or a field related to the position, or equivalency as determined by the appointing authority
Proficiency with the functional area applications including HTML, CSS, WordPress, responsive design UX, MS SQL, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, Google Suite, Google Analytics and CAS (single sign-on protocol)Â
Professional experience working in higher education
Proficiency in social media
Comfortable self-learning new technologies online, investigating new technology solutions; and managing multiple projects and deadlines
Experienced in communicating with users of varied technical ability
