Description of Position The Business Manager, M Tech E-Commerce and Consumer Electronics, is responsible for effectively administering the development and execution of a business strategy to accelerate the growth of the M Tech store e-commerce and consumer electronics businesses.
M Tech e-commerce responsibilities include oversight of all technology e-commerce business including B2B institutional order/fulfillment processing through U Market, creating and implementing strategic business plans, managing technology pricing strategies, and coordinating efforts of the various areas involved in the M Tech e-commerce businesses. Consumer electronics responsibilities include identifying desired products for resale, managing vendor terms including pricing, delivery, advertising and returns allowances, sales and profitability of the assigned classes including assortment planning, inventory management, sales markups/markdowns, gross margin budget achievement, and planograms for Bookstores’ other system campus store locations.
The position reports directly to the Technology and Supplies Buyer/Manager.
Responsibilities 55% Institutional and Business to Business (B2B) Order Management through U Market • Manage new device enrollment in the Apple Device Management system (DEP) & support information set-up on servers managed by OIT, AHC, CEHD, ICA and any other University unit that uses DEP to manage their computer devices. • Manage all e-commerce order deliveries for on-campus departmental orders. • Serve as primary contact for e-commerce order inquiries for store staff & customers. • Set up and maintain products on e-commerce site and create descriptive copy. • Create online promotions and coupon codes for all stores. • Review and confirm all e-commerce orders are eligible for academic pricing. • Critically examine all e-commerce orders for address verification services (AVS code) to prevent fraudulent charges. • Process/track all institutional orders and credit memos to departments. • Maintain accurate and timely customer records for efficient reporting of sales and account management. • Communicate with buyers when an item is removed from website. • Ensure M Tech maintains good customer relations with both internal and external customers. • Create SKU’s for custom departmental orders as necessary for Bookstores’ point-of-sale system. • Maintain custom orders & out of stock product tracking information for web orders. • Monitor shipping, receiving, and posting processes. Review and compile vendor invoices and receiving documentation for payment processing. • Create quotes for Veterans Affairs (VA) computer purchase programs. • Set up Customer Relationship Management (CRM) profile on BKS accounts receivable system for all orders to accept correct payment for billing to external accounts payable system. • Process orders and ship out all Veterans Affairs orders. 35% Inventory Support -Consumer Electronics • Assist departmental manager in making buying decisions for consumer electronics products. • Advise the departmental manager and continuously be aware of new technology, vendors and product lines that would be a good fit for the store. Stay aware of retail trends and the product selection and merchandising ideas of competitive stores. • At the direction of the departmental manager, take the lead in merchandising current inventory, using innovative display ideas and maximizing use of existing fixtures. • Develop planograms for store merchandise, both existing and future purchases. • Recommend to departmental manager, changes in space allocation based on sales per square foot for current departments. • Stay aware of the need for inventory control and keep departmental manager informed. • Have a clear understanding of the buying preferences of the M Tech customer while working to attract new customers. • Work within budget guidelines at all times. • With direction from the departmental manager, function as a team player with management, floor staff, and office support staff. 10% Miscellaneous • Delegate work based on the needs of the sales floor. • Assist with bi-weekly cycle counts on hardware inventory. • Communicate with system campus stores when inventory needs to be transferred from store to store. • Maintain retail displays in M Tech and arrange products as needed to highlight features, sales, promos, and new products. • Provide great customer service to all Bookstore guests. • Resolve customer disputes in a fair, efficient manner. • Other duties as assigned
Essential Functions of the Position • Oversee processing of all technology and supplies ordered via the primary Bookstores e-commerce site and/or University departmental orders placed via the U Market site. • Maintain product files on U Market and Bookstores e-commerce sites. • Set up new SKU’s in BKS point-of-sale system (Ratex). • Maintain e-ecommerce sites for U Market, Twin Cities and system campus stores for all M Tech products. • Monitor and release reorders for consumer electronics products. • Work independently on the e-commerce sites and Apple Device Deployment system. • Work closely with the marketing manager and all store managers regarding website promotions and sales. • Buy consumer electronics merchandise for resale including sourcing, negotiating terms, managing product flow and creating effective assortments and displays to maximize sales. • Attending trade shows as needed.
Salary Range: $19.22 - $28.83
Work Environment Work is performed mainly in a retail store and office setting.
Minimum Qualifications • BA/BS plus at least four years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least eight years. • Requires knowledge and/or demonstrated ability needed to perform general office tasks. • Requires knowledge of Ratex POS system. • Preferred: Specific knowledge/experience related to technology retailing.
