The University of Houston Cynthia Woods Mitchell Center for the Arts seeks a temporary Program and Marketing Coordinator to support the Center’s events and outreach efforts.
This position will be hourly, 10-40 hours per week, with a schedule set at the beginning of the appointment period. Projected hours will be less in fall semester, more in spring semester. The term of appointment will be for 4.5 months, renewable for a second 4.5 months, for a possible total of 9 months.
The Program and Marketing Coordinator should be experienced in social media, digital marketing, and event planning, preferably in the arts. Reporting to the Director, the ideal candidate must possess strong organizational, communication and time management skills, and pay close attention to detail. The candidate should be passionate about contemporary art, arts management, and/or arts education.
Maintain Mitchell Center and CounterCurrent festival websites. Update the sites regularly with text and images provided by the center’s Director and guest artists.
Assist with compiling and editing text for marketing materials
Maintain Mitchell Center Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook accounts with regular posts, and support other social media efforts
Serve as point of contact for on-campus graphic design projects
Assemble and maintain press kits
Manage online storage and archives of Mitchell Center photos and videos
Manage on- and off-campus distribution of Mitchell Center marketing materials including yard signs and posters
Programs include Mitchell Artist Lecture (November 2019), Artist residencies (year-round), and the CounterCurrent festival (April 2020).
Provide logistical support for artist visits, such as assistance with booking travel, housing, and hospitality
Maintain calendar of artist travel for staff, artists, and publicity purposes
Non-Ben Non-Exempt Staff
Candidate should have at least 1-2 years in administration and/or event planning, a demonstrated passion for the arts and education, and should be highly organized with strong communication skills and social media savvy. The ideal candidate will have excellent time management skills and the ability to manage time sensitive deadlines with ease and professionalism. Candidates with experience in community organizing, graphic design, promotional writing, and event management at multiple venues are encouraged to apply.
