The Marketing/Communications Director is responsible for overseeing the marketing and communications activities for Gillette Children’s Specialty Healthcare. Gillette is an international leader in the care for children with complex, rare, and traumatic conditions, serving children and families from all 50 US states and numerous foreign countries. Based in St. Paul, Minnesota, Gillette has four outpatient clinics in the Twin Cities Metro, eight clinics in greater Minnesota as well as partnerships and affiliations in other states as well as virtual and digital health offerings.
This position is responsible for leading marketing and communication activities to achieve strategic growth targets, advocate for policies and services that benefit those we serve, and generate philanthropic support to the institution. This position oversees a broad range of marketing and communication activities relative to the strategic direction and positioning of the organization and its leadership that promote, enhance and protect brand reputation and enable the organization to become the partner of choice.
Under the direction of the Vice President for Institutional Advancement (Chief Strategy, Marketing & Communications Officer), the Director will plan, budget and implement marketing and communications strategies and tactics to increase the value and perception of Gillette’s brand, grow health care services, and support advocacy and philanthropic efforts.
Marketing & Communications Leadership
Develops, implements, and evaluates marketing and communications strategies and plans to target and achieve the organization’s short and long-term objectives. Ensures Gillette’s marketing/communications initiatives are innovative and effective.
Ensures alignment between marketing/communications staff assignments and institutional priorities, continually evaluates productivity and effectiveness of marketing/communications initiatives.
Measures and reports on results of marketing/communications activities. Analyzes complex information to distill impact of marketing programs and conversions.
Directs the media relations efforts and connects with media contacts. Takes primary role in crisis communications.
Manages external partners (digital strategy agency, web development agency, etc.) including budget controls and reporting.
Develops internal communications strategies to ensure alignment across the organization.
System Leadership & Collaboration
Participates in activities that promote ease of access, quality improvement and patient satisfaction.
Seeks information and operates at a level of constant inquiry about business priorities and key initiatives that can further differentiate the hospital within the market. Maintains comprehensive knowledge of hospital-based operations, service lines and physician relations.
Acts as strategic marketing & communications advisor to system leadership; provides insights and support for system initiatives and priorities.
Collaborates with the strategy and business development team to implement marketing programs that offer key differentiators based on quality, service and/or outcomes, have measurable ROI and build better hospital/market brands through consistent messaging, differentiated value propositions and brand positioning within the market.
Collaborates with foundation to develop strategies and plans that support the philanthropic goals of the organization.
Manages, mentors and leads team members, including setting goals and objectives, performance management, and encouragement of staff development.
