Reporting directly to the Senior Associate Dean for Executive Education, but working closely with the Dean, Columbia Business School faculty, External Relations, Public Relations and other CBS constituencies, the Senior Director for Lifelong Learning will create a suite of online courses from the current MBA curriculum to facilitate continuous learning for our alumni population and when feasible market to the broader Executive Education market. The incumbent will work with and survey the alumni to understand the curriculum needs for the program creation. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of launching successful new initiatives, including online learning, community and corporate partnerships, and more, all within a framework of excellence and teamwork.
Creates the strategy for the lifelong learning program, this includes, but not limited to, determining what courses should be offered to our alumni, what platforms are best suited for delivery, implementation plan, etc.
Coordinates with Executive Education to market these courses to the broader Executive Education market.
Partners with senior leaders within External Relations, Public Relations, and other internal and external constituents to identify curricular areas.
Develops effective strategies to survey the alumni community, utilizing data from market research, to execute a successful Lifelong Learning initiative.
Works with faculty to develop online curriculum: instructional design, filming, post production management.
Develops and oversees P&L for lifelong learning program: technology costs, faculty incentives, staff costs, etc.
Develops a comprehensive marketing strategy that will drive alumni and faculty engagement, working in partnership with the CBS Strategic Communications team.
Promote and raise the profile and impact of the School to internal and external constituencies by balancing departmental and institutional priorities and being a visible, engaged and communicative leader representing the School and the University.
Advanced degree required, MBA strongly preferred. Minimum 10 years of relevant leadership and management experience required.
Must have built and effectively managed high performing teams at a senior level. Must have excellent presentation and organizational skills. Knowledge of online learning: delivery platforms, online teaching best practices, instructional design, competitive landscape and pricing. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse populations necessary. Preferred candidates will be self-starters who can work collaboratively and have demonstrated planning and project management skills. Must have demonstrated experience using data to inform strategic and tactical plans. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment and achieve significant results. Must be able to travel domestically.
An MBA or master's degree in a business discipline (e.g. management, economics, marketing, statistics, or related field) is strongly preferred.
