Assistant Vice President for Strategic Enrollment Initiatives
About Northeastern: Founded in 1898, Northeastern is a global research university and a world leader in experiential learning. The same commitment to connecting with the world drives our use-inspired research enterprise. The university offers a comprehensive range of undergraduate and graduate programs leading to degrees through the doctorate in nine colleges and schools. Our campuses in Charlotte, N.C., San Francisco, Seattle, and Toronto are regional platforms for undergraduate and graduate learning and collaborative research. Northeastern pursues advanced research in security and materials at the Innovation Campus in Burlington, Massachusetts, and in coastal sustainability at the Marine Science Center in Nahant, Massachusetts.
About the Opportunity: The AVP for Strategic Enrollment Initiatives will be a highly strategic leader reporting directly to the Vice President for Enrollment Management and working collaboratively with other members of the Enrollment Management leadership team. The AVP will play an executive-level role, serving as a strategist, advisor, and executor to ensure that initiatives are aligned with the priorities of the VP and institutional goals. S/he will assist and lead in the implementation of organizational initiatives and create and maintain cross-departmental and cross-divisional relationships to enable leadership and team success. This position is an increasingly critical component in supporting successful and collaborative partnerships, particularly as the institution aims to realize its vision of becoming a globally connected university system that eliminates the traditional boundaries of teaching and learning.
The AVP will play a key role in helping the institution realize its vision of fostering global mobility by enabling, promoting, and matching opportunities with pre-college, undergraduate, and graduate interests. To this end, the individual in this role will build and execute enrollment strategies on new global mobility initiatives; s/he will also serve as a primary liaison to key areas such as the Office of Global Services, the Global Experience Office, and Student Affairs in order to connect the critical aspects of enrollment management to the goals and visions of newly created global mobility initiatives. In the immediate, the AVP will contribute to accelerating the global vision of the pre-college portfolio by helping identify and launch a series of programs outside of the U.S.
Responsibilities: The individual in this position will also play a key role in strengthening efforts to assimilate students enrolled in alternate entry programs as they matriculate into degree programs within the university, particularly those students in transfer, pathways, and the NU Bound programs where their first year is shaped by host institutions and guided by Northeastern. As the university continues to diversify the number of ways that learners can begin their journey at Northeastern, it is critical that students feel supported during their pathways programs and are successfully integrated into the larger university ecosystem; to this end, the AVP will work across the division and with other key constituents in program areas and in student support offices to develop best-in-class programs, approaches, and, potentially, new business models aimed at ensuring that, regardless of how learners enter the university, they will have the necessary foundation to take advantage of all the institution has to offer.
Finally, the AVP will shepherd the division's unique culture of innovation by helping connect the talents of key stakeholders across the various EM units to successfully create and implement new initiatives. S/he will cultivate new programs, partnerships, and revenue in program areas that are in high demand, as well as creating efficiencies for existing programs. S/he will play a lead role in the student-facing evolution of technology for recruitment, enrollment, and student service; work in this area will involve, but not be limited to, obtaining customer input on needs and reactions to new technologies (via focus groups and surveys), crafting messaging and helping assimilate technologies to users, and shaping technologies for student use and delight and institutional efficiency. S/he will integrate into the organization quickly and provide leadership in a way that helps the team operate at maximum effectiveness.
