Position Summary: Manages the Production Department's print and mail operation at the Brookdale (Cardozo) campus, reporting directly to the Production Services Manager. Duties include pre-production, digital printing, wide-format, bindery, electronic media, transportation, bulk mail and mail services.
Manages and organizes daily operations of various production groups on the Brookdale (Cardozo) campus. Determines job priorities in order to achieve maximum utilization of equipment and personnel; monitors supplies and schedules staff to ensure a smooth working environment
Prepare estimates and submit invoices for billing
Manages mail operations on the Brookdale (Cardozo) campus
Manage outsourced print relationships as required to service University production needs
Engage with all University consumers of print services to encourage additional use of the Print Production Departments resources
Manage ordering of supplies and materials subject to existing vendor agreements where applicable and review and approval of the Production Services Manager
Oversees preparation of a variety of skilled layout work in the preparation of posters, exhibits, brochures, books, newsletters and flyers, duplicating of electronic media to CD, DVD, Multi-Media cards and USB devises
Manages bulk mail operations, to include generating mailing lists, labels, folding, inserting, labeling and operations of various mail equipment and mail list management Establishes and maintains quality standards; plan and schedules production activities
Manages all activities related to mail services to the Brookdale (Cardozo) campus community including incoming/outgoing USPS mail, intercampus mail and overnight couriers. Ensures timely and efficient processing. Maintains liaison with representatives of related outside agencies including USPS, FedEx, and UPS
Maintains records of work in progress for billing and departmental records; maintains file management system of completed jobs for easy retrieval for repeated use
Gain understanding of clients and potential clients needs and look for opportunity to provide a solution by offering our products & services
Increase order sizes by suggesting related products & services, explaining features, and checking customer buying history
Work with Production Services Manager to decide when to outsource and when to print internally
Ensure quality standards and use tracking system
Experience & Educational Background:
Bachelors Degree and 3-5 years of related experience. An equivalent combination of education and prior related experience will also be considered
Skills & Competencies:
Knowledge of USPS Regulations, Policies and Procedures
Knowledge of budgetary procedures, fiscal projections and cost analysis
Knowledge of computer operations as it relates to digital printing and mail and publishing software
Knowledge of writing print specifications and production equipment and materials
Skills in coordinating and scheduling multiple projects
Interacts and proactively shares information with internal and external contacts where appropriate
Develops effective relationships with peers, students and employees
Assumes responsibility to ensure issues/concerns will be addressed and monitors them through conclusion
Seeks to apply technology and innovation to improve efficiency and solve problems
