Background to appointment GlobalLink has established a Regulatory Risk and Compliance function that is focused on mitigating risk from within the first line of defense through control monitoring and enhancement.
The role The purpose of the role is to manage a Regulatory Risk and Controls team that enables GlobalLink to:
Take responsibility, and be accountable to management, for appropriately assessing and effectively managing risks associated with the first line of defense's activities
Establish, maintain, and drive effective risk and control management programs
Support the development and implementation of a corporate governance, risk, and compliance tool to enable the submission, tracking, and reporting of risk issues, self-assessments, and regulatory compliance
Self-identify risk and compliance issues, analyze root causes, implement timely corrective actions, and continuously monitor risk
Responsible for across the globe jurisdictional requirements and reporting The successful candidate will report to the GlobalLink Chief Operating Officer and will liaise on a regular basis with the GlobalLink Senior Management, Compliance, Enterprise Risk Management, and Audit thereby complementing and building on the control and risk infrastructure already in place in Global Markets. Specifically, this position will provide advice, support, and leadership to GlobalLink regarding compliance and operational risks with a focus on conflicts of interest, fiduciary responsibilities, privacy, new products, and project support. In addition, the role will directly support the implementation of corporate-wide governance, risk, and compliance tool, help the business to identify, assess, and document compliance and operational risk issues and controls, and establish executive risk reporting. A successful candidate will need to take initiative, exercise independent thinking, juggle multiple tasks, set priorities, and meet aggressive deadlines in a fast-paced environment. The Senior Manager must have strong interpersonal and organizational skills and be interested in working in a professional and team-oriented environment.
Serve as a strong leader with the following principal duties and responsibilities:
Lead the compliance programs (conflicts of interest, privacy, fiduciary risk, etc.) and execution of central controls on behalf of the Global Markets' businesses
Project manage the implementation of key compliance and risk initiatives, specifically the First Line of Defense Compliance policy, and assume management and oversight of the requirements after implementation is completed.
Support the development and implementation of a corporate gove rnance, risk, and compliance tool to enable the submission, tracking, and reporting of risks and controls, issues, assessments, and regulatory compliance
Provide advice, guidance, and support regarding regulatory and operational risks, control design and effectiveness, and ongoing control monitoring and testing activities
Represent GlobalLink in corporate committees and working groups to drive outcomes and resolutions that bring efficiency and effectiveness to GlobalLink and other Business Units across the corporation
Become proficient in the State Street risk and control methodology to assess, manage, and control risk
Establish and enhance risk and control reporting
Actively lead and participate in risk management projects
Lead discussions regarding first line risk management regarding specific risks, including but not limited to risk ratings, controls, and issue management
Participate in the strategic development of the business risk function
Build strong relationships within the first line business and risk colleagues as well as Compliance, Risk, Audit, and Legal partners
Perform additional responsibilities as required
Knowledge of FX trading, best practices and the FX Global Code
Experience in working with either a first line of defense role within a business unit or compliance
Knowledgeable about processes, risks and controls/controls design for electronic trading activity
