The School of Individualized Study (SOIS) is RITs academic unit for individualized degrees and remains committed to helping students be innovative and having a voice in their educational path. SOIS serves over 800 full-time equivalent domestic undergraduate and graduate students and provides academic programs to over 450 full-time equivalent students at RIT Kosovo, as well as customized MS degrees is in City Science, and in Data Analytics at RIT Dubai. In addition to offering customizable AAS, BS, and MS degrees, SOIS now also offers an advanced graduate certificate in Project Management, is a Project Management Institute (PMI) Registered Education Provider, and delivers the RITx Project Management Micromasters credential (a partnership between RITonline, SOIS, and edX) .
The School of Individualized Study is also home to Outreach Education and Training (OET). OET provides multidisciplinary, educational opportunities to corporate cohorts or fields of professionals. Additionally, OET supports the OSHA Education Center.
The Rochester Institute of Technology is seeking candidates for a tenure-track position in Project Management. The position is a joint appointment to the Kate Gleason College of Engineering, Department of Industrial & Systems Engineering, and to the University Studies Division, School of Individualized Study. Tenure will be assessed within the College of Engineering.
The ideal candidate for this position will be able to thrive in a collegiate and highly interdisciplinary environment; increase the scholarly profile in project management of both academic units; and actively participate in creating an innovative, diverse, and entrepreneurial culture within the RIT academic community. The successful candidate will create an external industry and academic partnerships in support of the curriculum; initiate and guide experiential learning opportunities for students; establish a successful interdisciplinary externally sponsored research program; support the design and delivery of new undergraduate and graduate-level curriculum (in accordance with his or her area of expertise); and participate in the design and implementation of instructional initiatives relating to the delivery of interdisciplinary, online, professional certification, adult/continuing education, and international programs. Faculty responsibilities include teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, student advising (including Ph.D. students), conducting sponsored research, and providing service to the university community.
The Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering is experiencing significant growth. The AMPrint Center (www.rit.edu/amprint) has world-class additive manufacturing and multifunctional printing capabilities. The Brinkman Advanced Machine Tools Laboratory is a model for industry-academia partnerships that provide faculty and students with access to state-of-the-art advanced manufacturing capabilities. The Toyota Production Systems Lab mimics a real world assembly production facility and supports a wide variety of activities pertaining to lean manufacturing. As investments in infrastructure have grown, the department's research expenditures have increased over 100% over the past five years. The department offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in Industrial and Systems Engineering, with additional degree options in Sustainable Engineering and Engineering Management. Faculty are also actively engaged in interdisciplinary engineering Ph.D. program with focus areas in Energy, Transportation, Health Care, and Communications. Required Minimum Qualifications
PhD. in Project Management, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Operations Management, Quality Management, or closely-related fields;
Demonstrated potential for high-quality undergraduate and graduate-level teaching of Project Management and closely-related fields;
A record of research potential demonstrated by publications and presentation experience that has produced scholarly publications in relevant Project Management journals and related publications;
Demonstrated potential to establish and maintain an externally funded research program relevant to Project Management or closely-related fields;
Demonstrated record of full-time industrial experiences in a relevant engineering and or managerial position;
Strong written and oral communication skills;
Demonstrated ability to contribute in meaningful ways to the institutions continuing commitment to student success, diversity, pluralism, and individual differences.
