The primary purpose of this position is to provide strategic administrative support for the work and duties executed by the Division of Research and Economic Development (DORED) and to serve as the assistant to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Services and Project Management. The executive assistant must provide important decision-making and action-oriented activities that allow the work of the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Research Services and Project Management to be carried out with the utmost efficiency and effectiveness. This position interacts on a daily basis with internal and external constituencies across the university. Some of the work done by this position is confidential and requires maximum discretion.
Primary Function of Organizational Unit:
The Division of Research and Economic Development (DORED) manages N.C. A&T's research enterprise. DORED provides services to faculty and student researchers, to current and potential research partners, funding agencies, and economic development agencies. It is headed by the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development.

High School diploma or equivalency and three years of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or graduation with an associate’s degree in Secretarial Science, Business Administration, or a related discipline and one year of progressively responsible administrative/office management experience; or bachelor’s degree, preferably in Business Administration or a related discipline; or equivalent combination of training and experience..All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Graduation from a four-year college or university and one year of directly-related administrative support experience in research administration; or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been attained.
Considerable knowledge of modern office procedures, practices, and equipment
Ability to work with diverse customers internal and external to DORED
Ability to work independently and see projects through to successful completion
Familiarity with Uniform Guidance, Federal Acquisition Regulations and sponsored programs management in a higher education environment
Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in performing assignments
Requires strong organizational skills, an orientation for details, excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills, professional proficiency in Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, and the ability to learn department-specific computer systems as needed.
