This position works closely with the college president, Executive Director of the Foundation, and key staff to design, implement and manage external funding opportunities offered by individuals, corporations, foundations, and government sources for the college foundations. You will become familiar with college priorities and strategic plan and conduct research into external funding opportunities to meet these priorities through the preparation, coordination, and solicitation of potential donors to one of the foundations. You will build healthy relationships with key leaders in business, foundations, government, and community members and will ask these built relationships for donations to the Foundation.
This position will also function as the staff liaison to the Foundation board of directors, coordinating its works and support its initiatives.
Associate Degree and 3 years experience working in donor relations / philanthropy
Experience soliciting funds from individuals, corporations, or private foundations
Demonstrated expertise working with volunteer boards
Experience in project management and organizational acumen
Demonstrated leadership in working with senior managers, peers, subordinates & diverse constituencies
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to use MS Word and Excel, and other software applications to prepare a variety of documents
Ability to travel
Experience in a college, university or educational setting
Experience soliciting gifts over $20,000
Knowledge of Minnesota State
Previous experience in a public and/or union setting
