We are looking for an actuary to fulfil the following responsibilities:
Perform quarterly review of P&C loss reserves for Swiss Re's Canadian Operations (Property & Casualty), including Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd, Canadian Branch and Westport Insurance Corporation, Canadian Branch (collectively the "Canadian Branches")
Reserving reviews to cover US GAAP, Canadian Statutory/IFRS reserves, as well as Swiss Re's proprietary Economic Valuation Methodology
Make recommendations to appropriate reserve committee, as well as to senior management of the Canadian Branches – Chief Agents, CFO, CRO
Manage the actuarial team in Canada currently consisting of two senior actuaries
Assume the duties and responsibilities of the Appointed Actuary as required by regulators (OSFI), and the Canadian Institute of Actuaries, including providing the appropriate statutory reports and actuarial opinions for the Canadian Branches
Complete DCAT for Canadian Branches
Work with regulators and internal/external auditors on routine and special matters
Provide reserving support for US and Latin America reserving as needed
Support transition to IFRS for the Canadian Branches, working closely with local and global project teams and across Finance, Actuarial Management and IT
Represent Canada on Swiss Re global actuarial and data analytics initiatives.
Qualified Actuary (FCIA) with a minimum of 5 years post qualification
Experience in a Property & Casualty insurance
Excellent knowledge of Canadian statutory and regulatory environment
Excellent project management skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills demonstrating a clear and articulate standard of written and verbal English communication in a complex environment
Excellent business sense and appreciation of sound risk management techniques
Proactive in seeking out and providing information
Actively looks to add value and take on additional responsibility
Ability to work under pressure and prioritize tasks accordingly.

You will be leading the Actuarial and Reserving P&C Canada team, reporting into the Head Actuarial & Reserving P&C Americas.
