Advertised Summary Job Description: Reporting to the Executive Director of Communications, the Communications Coordinator will assist in the execution of the Data Science Institute's strategic public and media relations strategy. The incumbent will ensure organizational communication and brand consistency across all DSI materials and communications as well as support content creation that showcases the Institute's core strengths in research and academics in order to grow audience and increase engagement.
Key Responsibilities: - Work closely with the Executive Director of Communication to guide and manage the production of all creative projects from the starting point of initiating project plan, through development and on to project completion;
- Manage social media channels, carrying through key insights focused on showcasing the Institute's core messages;
- Manage audio and video digital production, logistics, and operations; ensuring digital content is delivered in a timely and appropriate manner;
- Assist in digital aspects of event production including, content capture, web-broadcast and appropriate post-event recap.;
- Coordinate and assist in the development of content to integrate into the Data Science Institute's various web properties;
- Other assignments as assigned/required.
General Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and/or its equivalent in education and experience required. At least 2 to 4 years of relevant experience required in the marketing, strategic communications, and/or media relations fields. Must have experience working in a digital publication environment, with experience in digital, multimedia storytelling that includes text, video, audio, and graphical components. Must also have a sophisticated knowledge of social media platforms and have experience creating effective social-media strategies that increase audience and engagement with web content. A background in science and science journalism is ideal. Savvy with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe products, experience with a CMS, comfort with HTML and CSS, as well as other digital and social-media platforms are pluses.
Additional Specific Minimum Qualifications: Must be a service oriented professional who demonstrates creativity in performing assigned tasks, has flexibility and performs well under pressure. Must have great project-management skills and must be able to consistently meet tight deadlines. Must possess the ability to communicate effectively to a variety of constituent groups, including Institute and University administrators, faculty, graduates, students, and professionals in corporate relations and government; the ability to coordinate and execute multiple projects simultaneously; written and interpersonal skills, including the ability to function well in a team environment.
