The Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a Communications Specialist to join our team. The Communications Specialist plans, develops, designs and implements strategic and tactical communications plans for the Center for Languages, Literatures and Cultures (CLLC). This position is embedded within the CLLC staff and serves as the ASC Marketing and Communications liaison for CLLC Consortium units (which includes CLLC, nine language departments, Comparative Studies, and Linguistics), and, in conjunction with Marketing and Communications, intakes projects, develops news stories and marketing content, and participates in team meetings. Consults with and implements marketing strategies for department-level goals, leveraging the shared capabilities of the college's Marketing and Communications office. Manages, develops and creates print and digital ads, promotional materials and advertising for the CLLC consortium. Promotes and assists in marketing special events for CLLC and larger department special events that are open to all. Manages digital displays and promotional collateral in Hagerty Hall cafe and lobby to market events, course announcements, faculty/student profiles, and any special announcements as needed. Produces and edits weekly online e-newsletter, Hagerty Happenings, and manages 15 hour/week student assistant in production of newsletter. Develops and maintain email lists of faculty, graduate students, staff and undergraduates to use in promotion and communication, e.g. Hagerty Happenings. Serves as content manager of CLLC marketing channels, including the website (including event calendar and news), social media (Facebook, Twitter) and email account. Organizes and promotes Foreign Language Career Fair. Lead a CLLC Tech workshop(s) for faculty and staff each semester. Collaborates with Hagerty Hall student advisors on recruitment events. Assists faculty with u.osu.edu website strategy, setup, content creation for faculty and event websites. Assists departments with scriptwriting for audio or video production, as needed. Assists with college-wide marketing and communications projects and publications as needed.
Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, graphic design, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience; marketing and communications experience, with an emphasis on content creation, project management, event planning, and design; excellent communication and writing skills; experience using social media, web content management systems (Drupal preferred), and Adobe Creative Cloud.
Experience with web/email marketing communications, including web content management systems and email marketing software; basic HTML experience; knowledge of AP editorial style.
Target Salary: $48,000.00 - $51,000.00 Annually
