We provide advice and consultation on work place issues, policies, and procedures for faculty, staff, and UAW personnel.
On our team, you will report to the Director for Human Resources and provide administrative support, project management and budget/financial support.
Regular business hours are between 8:30am and 5:00pm Monday thru Friday. Based on the CVM's business needs and events, some overtime, evenings and weekends will be required (hours subject to change).
What you will do:
As the front-line support for the college human resources team, the Administrative Assistant will create a welcoming and engaging office environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. As our administrative support, you will provide comprehensive, pro-active administrative support to the director and members of the team while demonstrating initiative, sound judgement, high-level professionalism and confidentiality. You will handle a complex meeting schedule, ensuring that the director's activities and obligations occur smoothly and that he/she is fully prepared for daily activities.
Triage HR issues and concerns ensuring exemplary customer service is provided to meet customer needs.
Conduct best practice research and utilize technology to develop mechanisms to manage workflow.
Lead the coordination of all HR events.
Manage day-to-day activities and operations of the front office, including coordination of student employment for CVM.
Research, prioritize, and identify areas needing improvement and seek creative solutions for effective resolution.

Additionally you will have:
Associate's degree with 2-4 years' experience with progressively responsible administrative support responsibilities, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Demonstrated affinity for technology and data: Strong analytical skills with a high degree of attention to detail. Shown talent in MS Office, Microsoft Outlook, and utilization of web technologies: e.g., fluent with word processing, strong knowledge of database management, communications, scheduling, spreadsheet capabilities, along with an interest for continuous learning to remain current with software and other advances that may promote administrative efficiencies.
Strong communication: Effectively interact with staff, university partners, and external vendors, verbally and in writing. A proven record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships and creating a high quality and respectful work environment.
Initiative and creative problem solving: Possess the ability to accomplish tasks independently, take initiative in a dynamic environment. Creatively approach and solve problems, using sound judgement and reasoning.
Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to prioritize multiple and competing projects switch priorities on a moment's notice and meet deadlines with a large scope of impact.

Knowledge and expertise with Cornell University Contract College policies, accounting systems, and human resource and payroll administrative systems, including Workday, Concur and Kuali.
Working knowledge of Cornell financial and purchasing policies.
