This position will serve as an Association Program Assistant II for Cornell Cooperative Extension Association of Nassau County. The Long Island Taste New York (LI TNY) Market Lead Sales Clerk supports the Taste NY Market at the Long Island Welcome Center, Farmers' Markets and related activities. Primary responsibilities include ensuring the LI TNY store is operating smoothly, including inventory management, assisting customers in a food service setting, assisting with self-serve check out, maintaining clean and organized work stations and ensuring a clean guest area. Knowledge of inventory software and NCR POS software, assisting Shift Supervisor with staff scheduling, training of newly hired Sales Clerks, assisting with purchasing and concession inventory. Must be able to assist when needed in maintaining cash banks with Shift Supervisor, Market Manager and Assistant Manager, operation of cash register, cash controls, inventory, and transport to the store, customer service, food service and record keeping. Lead Sales Clerk must be able to perform all duties of Sales Clerks. The Lead Sales Clerk is expected to discuss NYS agriculture and local food products with customers to engage them in these areas and to provide information upon request about the food and farm products sold in the store. Lead Clerk must follow health safety and sanitation guidelines for all products. Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues. Inspect the store for cleanliness and organization as needed. Lead Clerk must possess the ability to communicate effectively with managers and co-workers. Must be able to follow and create already developed coffee recipes. Must have the ability to recommend daily coffee choices to the customer from the menu list.
Associate's Degree or Equivalent Education (High School Diploma/GED and one (1) year transferrable program/functional experience).
Experience relevant to the role of the position.
Two (2) years' retail sales experience.
Ability to meet travel requirements associated with this position.
Ability to work flexible hours which may include evenings and/or weekends, as appropriate.
Ability to complete basic math in a fast paced environment.
Ability to operate or learn to operate a cash register.
Ability to learn and use Fishbowl Inventory and Point of Sale System.
Ability to manage sales clerk staff and purchase concession items, consumables and janitorial goods.
Ability to use or learn to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
Ability to work with the public.
Attention to detail.
Microsoft Office proficiency (especially excel);

Provide input to assist LI-TNY Market Manager, Assistant Market Manager and Shift Supervisors with planning for scheduling, training and inventory.

Assign duties to the LI-TNY Sales Clerk staff as necessary.
Coordination/Operation - 85%
Greets, assists and serves the needs of LI-TNY store customers.
Store inspection, organization and recordkeeping.Must assist in maintaining a clean facility.
Replenishment of store supplies and assists with inventory.Track product inventory.
Assist with product ordering. Re-stock shelves and coolers.
Cash Controls and Cash Bank - follow all procedures for cash controls and assist Shift Supervisor and or Market Manager and Assistant Market Manager with cash bank.
Receive and log scheduled deliveries.
Prepare purchase orders for concession, consumable and janitorial items.
Assist with promotion of agri-tourism in NYS.
Work with vendors to learn about their products and train sales clerks about those products.
Promote local farms, produce, food and products displayed to customers.
Maintain equipment, troubleshoot if necessary and call for repair as directed.
Serve coffee and assist customers with coffee choices.
Provide training to LI-TNY Sales Clerk staff.
