Job Summary: Under the general supervision of Director of Custodial Services, the Custodial Services Support Manager is a key member of Custodial Services Department and along with the Director, Operations Managers and Supervisors provides the highest level of customer service to the campus community by having issues and concerns addressed in a courteous, professional manner. The incumbent provides management and strategic support to business operations and to the Facilities Management support departments. Act as one of the primary points of contact for the Custodial Services Department. Serve as high-level support for the department management and field supervisors. Responsible for providing strategic and analytical assistance, making recommendations on custodial business processes to prevent, mitigate and respond to customer issues. Assist in developing and implementing internal operational policies, procedures, guidelines and controls. This position maintains a high level of confidentiality and attention to detail and accuracy in all areas of responsibility, including but not limited to the handling of restricted and sensitive information in accordance with federal/state laws and University policies.
Physical Demands: Bend, stoop, reach, and twist.
Ascend and descend stairs/stairwells.
Work in darkened areas and walk between buildings in the dark.
Lift up to 50 lbs.
Work Environment: Position will participate in the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Pull Notice System.
Position may, at times, require employee to work with or be in areas where hazardous materials and/or infectious diseases are present.
Restricted vacation during peak periods.
Valid CA Driver's License required.
Will occasionally work an alternate work schedule and overtime to meet deadlines and operational needs.

Minimum Qualifications: Experience and/or training in managing and leading a staff, including budgetary and operational oversight and/or responsibilities
Experience establishing internal controls, forecasting and strategic planning to analyze and compile custodial data and reports.
Experience developing process documentation and training materials; skill to develop and conduct user/group training sessions.
Project management experience to achieve timely progress on multiple complex, high impact projects, meet deadlines, and maintain a high level of productivity.
Leadership skills to implement new processes and improve the overall effectiveness of a team.
Decision-making and problem solving skills to perform operations and quality control analysis.
Interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills that clearly and effectively interact with a diverse group of individuals to secure and/or provide information to clarify situations, resolve problems, and negotiate agreements.
Intermediate computer application skills. Experience using software applications such as Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel.
Customer service skills to follow through on customer requests, problem resolution, and to respond to inquiries.
Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Economics, Accounting, Public Administration, Computer Sciences or other related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong writing and communication skills to prepare and present documents, reports, proposals for management and correspondence with various constituencies within campus and UC system.
Administrative and analytical expertise to support Custodial Services business and financial decisions for sustainability planning.
Experience in Custodial, Housekeeping, Janitorial and/or Facilities Management.
Experience in business management, accounting principles and practices, and enterprise or internal services fund accounting.
Experience interpreting, applying and communicating campus accounting policy and procedures to provide advice for management and exchange information. Experience in business process improvement approaches and methods.
Skills to solicit constructive input, develop consensus, provide accurate and timely feedback, resolve problems/conflicts, and build effective team environment.
Independent judgment skills to determine the type of quantitative data needed for analyses and to develop recommendations based on the analysis.
Skill to develop creative solutions to general problems attempt unfamiliar projects/assignments and respond with flexibility to requests for assistance.
