Department: UNIVERSITY EXTENSION - 027025 Department Description: UC Davis Continuing and Professional Education (CPE) is the academic division of the university dedicated to workforce and career development. CPE helps professional working adults upskill, reskill and advance their careers. CPE partners with campus schools, colleges and faculty to create global access to the distinctive knowledge and resources of UC Davis, and also works with employers and local experts to develop programs targeted to regional needs for economic development. More than 1,500 professionals teach in a wide array of specialized practice domains, including outstanding faculty from across UC Davis. Last year, CPE recorded nearly 62,000 enrollments in more than 4,200 classes, serving students from all 50 states and more than 100 countries. Courses are offered onsite and online in a variety of formats, including short courses, conferences, certificate programs and self-supporting master's degrees. Courses are open to the public and offered on a contract basis through partnerships with private companies, government agencies and international peer universities. CPE also manages the university's relationship with Coursera, a leading MOOC platform, and has taught hundreds of thousands of students through this partnership. CPE is completely self-supporting, generating more than $40 million in annual revenue from course fees, public and private contracts and grants. CPE employs over 230 employees (career, academic, contract and limited) and more than 60 student employees.

Job Summary: This position is part of the International and Access Programs portfolio and reports to the Senior Director. The incumbent is responsible for the management of Pre-College, International Youth, and custom programs for IAP. The incumbent supervises program staff, carries the operational aspects of multiple programs, day-to-day oversight of students, the programs, associated budgets, and logistics. This position conducts research to identify program opportunities. The incumbent represents CPE in marketing, works closely with agents and prospective clients, faculty, community, parents, and campus representatives. The incumbent maintains high quality standards, assures that educational outcomes are reached, and works with colleagues on student success and experience.
The position is responsible for program management and implementation. The Program Manager operates with considerable level of independence and has latitude for independent decision-making. Under general supervision, manages administration and coordination of complex and overlapping international open enrollment, custom and integrated programs as well as the Pre-College Program within growing area of programming. The Program Manager is responsible for program quality, recommends program design that supports outcomes achievement, reviews course proposals, instructor and program evaluations, and makes recommendations for improvements. The incumbent coordinates instructor recruitment; ensures financial solvency of programs, manages and approves program budgets, and instructor compensation agreements in assigned programs.
Physical Demands: Lift and transport boxes of course materials supplies weighing up to 30 lbs.
Work Environment: Driver's license required; occasional use of passenger van. Occasional work outside or offsite for events or site visits. Occasional night and weekend work. Limited vacation during peak program periods.

Minimum Qualifications: -Project management experience to organize work independently and manage multiple concurrent projects in various stages of development/completion. -Experience with program development to include program evaluation and analysis, program improvement and the development of new programs. -Demonstrated experience managing educational courses and/or programs; evaluating and identifying client needs to develop and implement new services. -Experience working in a cross-cultural environment and/or international education. -Experience managing and prioritizing multiple projects and/or tasks simultaneously and meeting various deadlines with minimum supervision. -Analytical skills to define a problem, identify issues, analyze data and alternative solutions, weigh consequences of solutions and make recommendations and decisions. -Experience with writing, proofing and preparing a variety of communications to ensure quality and effective communication with tact and diplomacy. -Experience presenting before groups and facilitating meetings. Intermediate experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), database and/or business tracking systems. -Experience performing fiscal tasks to include purchasing, monitoring expenses, creating budgets, and analyzing financials. -Working knowledge of effective market research, analysis, needs assessment and marketing strategies. -Experience entering and retrieving data from a variety of computer software; compiling, summarizing, analyzing, reporting and presenting such data. -Ability to establish effective working relationships with a diverse group of staff, students and clientele.
Preferred Qualifications: -Experience communicating with international students from different linguistic and cultural backgrounds, speaking different languages with varying levels of English ability. -Experience studying or working abroad. -Experience utilizing CPE Business Systems.
