Job Summary: Under general direction of the Director of Communications, the Communications Manager is responsible for developing strategies to effectively implement Global Affairs communications plans, including focus areas of Services for International Students and Scholars (SISS), Global Professional Programs, and various priority programs and initiatives of Global Affairs. Communications will reach various constituencies. This position serves as the SISS webmaster and social media manager and manages or contributes strategy and content for other websites and social media accounts in Global Affairs. This position manages various print, design, video and other communications projects. Also responsible for collaborating with all areas of Global Affairs on communications and analytical initiatives.
Physical Demands: Maneuver files and materials weighing up to 25lbs.
Work Environment: Work regularly includes evenings and weekends, and occasional overtime to meet operational needs.
Occasional travel to attend out of town conferences that may include overnight stays.
Restricted vacation during peak periods.

Minimum Qualifications: Experience developing and implementing comprehensive strategies to communicate services, data, and programs to varied audiences, and evaluating the effectiveness of these strategies.
Experience in creating and maintaining creative, clear, easy to navigate, informative, compelling, well designed, and highly functional websites and print materials.
Analytical skills and experience to research and interpret data, create surveys, prepare reports, and simplify complex information for specified groups.
Writing, editing and graphic design skills to prepare creative materials for public distribution, such as training and marketing materials, newsletters, student and scholar features, and other communications.
Organizational and project management skills to manage assignments and work under pressure of strict deadlines; respond with composure under a heavy workload, frequent interruptions and competing demands.
Experience collaborating with staff in other campus units to develop and implement programs for students and scholars.
Analytical skills to synthesize information or problems in an objective manner, and provide communications planning, recommendations, and implementation. _____________________________________________
Preferred Qualifications: Familiarity with the UC Davis web content management system and menu of social media options.
Experience working in an environment that requires interpersonal and communication skills with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and perspectives.
