The University of Texas at Arlington invites applications for the position of Assistant Vice President (AVP) for UTA Digital. UTA is one of the nation's fastest-growing public research universities with an enrollment of over 43,939 Texas-based students and a global degree seeking population that brings the total to over 59,000 in on-campus and on-line programs. Located in the center of the DFW area, home to a large international airport and a number of Fortune 500 companies, Arlington is close to a wide variety of civic and cultural activities. Assistant Vice President for UTA Digital will propose and enable the online and digital education strategy to ensure that the university meets both traditional and nontraditional learners' needs through the newly formed UTA Digital. This position will report to the Vice President of Global Education and Extended Studies (GEOES) and a dotted reporting line to the Provost. The AVP will lead teams dedicated to campus technical support, curriculum design, authorization and faculty and staff LMS training related to online education.
Under the AVP's leadership, UTA Digital will support students and clients on online and hybrid-learning modalities. The AVP will be a leader through campus wide collaboration and direct support of the online learning operations team. The AVP will be responsible for the leadership, administrative oversight and coordination of all operations aspects of online education. The AVP will also work in collaboration with colleges and other departments supporting outcomes related to online education that are featured in the University Strategic Plan. University Strategic Plan: https://www.uta.edu/strategicplan/ Working in close partnership with the Provost's office, colleges and auxiliaries, the UTA Digital AVP will facilitate and enable online learning initiatives at UTA and guide a growing portfolio of online programs, their delivery, the infrastructure and processes to support their success. Facilitate the utilization of online program management (OPM) companies through an executive team comprised of the President, Provost, CFO and VP of GEOES. Work in collaboration with the CFO's office on campus financial implications of the UTA Digital initiatives. Plan, manage and track department budget and spending. Working with the office of information technology (OIT) to support LMS software and other technology infrastructure needs related to online courses and programs. Optimize and establish strategies on how to deploy online education to support distance degree programs and serve the needs of online learners at all stages. Enable innovative educational experiences and enhance the university's reputation, visibility, and reach while providing new resources to further strengthen the institution's online education. The AVP will be a strategic and innovative thinker, an entrepreneurial tactician, and a creative and energetic leader of both people and online programs. Performs other duties as assigned.
Master's degree. Experience and expertise in negotiating strategic partnerships and business agreements in online program management are highly desirable or the equivalent experience. UTA seeks a leader with significant and successful relevant prior online learning experience, including: building, implementing, and/or managing an online education enterprise.
