The SMS Research Foundation (SMSRF) is looking for a leader to serve as the primary representative and spokesperson for all organizational activities. Working closely with the board of directors, the executive director will be responsible for the overall operations of SMSRF including developing and monitoring the annual budget, maintaining records and implementing short and long-term planning. The E.D. will also oversee fundraising including donor relations and work to increases awareness of SMS and the SMSRF. This will include communicating with health professionals, legislators and building relationships with other advocacy groups.
In the area of research, activities may include identifying grant opportunities and helping to complete grant applications, expanding interest in SMSRF’s efforts in the medical and scientific communities, and building relationships with research, diagnostic and pharmaceutical sectors. This will include organizing research meetings and sharing research related news in a family-friendly manner with the SMS community.

Successful candidates must have proven leadership, operational and management skills along with a record of working independently. A background in Non-Profit Management, Development and Strategic Communications is preferred. Additional qualifications include:

Detail-oriented: Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills and a critical degree of accuracy regarding project deliverables.
Project management: Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Strong with follow-up and seeing projects through to completion.
Interest: An interest in and passion for health and research.
