The AlphaWise Primary Research team collaborates closely with Morgan Stanley fundamental analysts, strategists, and economists on key investment debates. Building on a decade of experience, the AlphaWise Primary Research team gathers alternative data to generate unique analytics and insights. The group is seeking a seasoned Data Analytics Specialist to combine data expertise, technical skills and business acumen to solve challenging investment debates.
Identify opportunities for data and analytics involvement on investment debates, scope projects, project manage the day-to-day and help with final publication write-ups
Collaborate with Research Analysts, colleagues and management in Europe and Asia on project from ideas through to insights publication
Execute on analytics solutions, weaving into other team analysis/outputs across different disciplines
Identify new ways to source data, apply analytics capabilities and streamline the overall process
Partake in evaluating new data vendors, conducting pilots and presenting the investment business case to management
Advanced programming skills in Python and R
Experience as a data analyst, data scientist, data engineer or related quantitative role with experience working with dispersed teams is mandatory
Some experience in Financial Markets is preferred
Experience in statistical data analysis and data mining packages (e.g, R, SAS, Alteryx, Pandas, Scikit-learn, Excel)
Experience in working with data in various forms (data warehouses/SQL, unstructured data environments/PIG,HIVE, Impala)
Experience in applying statistics and analytics to develop data driven insights in a business context
Understanding of how data could be utilized in equity research investment or financial markets
Experience answering business questions using a quantitative, data-driven, analytical approach
Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills with an ability to collaborate with teams globally dispersed
Proactive, creative and self-starting nature
Excellent communication of technical concepts to expert & non-expert audiences
Intellectual curiosity, along with excellent problem-solving and quantitative skills, including the ability to disaggregate issues, identify root causes and recommend solutions
