Job Description Summary
University of Pennsylvania Press, publisher of trade and scholarly books, seeks a Digital Asset Coordinator responsible for managing electronic title data interchange with major industry partners and workflows, internal and external, needed to publish Penn Press books in electronic form, on a variety of platforms, simultaneously with print publication for new titles. This requires adroit data manipulation and coordination with members of Press departments and outside suppliers to gather, convert, distribute, and archive book content, cover, and metadata files. This position reports to the Director.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge plus two years' related work experience. Requires exceptional skills in data manipulation, textual and numerical; familiarity with tagged data as well as various asset formats and file types, including TIFF, EPS, JPEG, PDF, TXT, ZIP, HTML, EPUB, XML, and InDesign application files; proficiency in calculation, scripting, macro, importing, and exporting techniques in Word, Excel, and FileMaker Pro; working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite. Also requires general computer literacy, especially in database technology and content storage systems, and aptitude for acquiring new technical skills. Desirable is broad experience in and understanding of the publishing business, its IT infrastructure, and digital/electronic publishing. Essential are strong project management and organizational skills in addition to a high degree of attention to detail.
