Kelsey-Seybold Clinic's program is accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) in partnership with the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP).
The purpose of the Managed Care Pharmacy Residency Program at Kelsey-Seybold Clinic is to prepare residents for a career in managed care pharmacy. The program is customized based on the resident's professional goals, providing opportunities to develop proficient clinical, project management, analytical, and leadership skills. The resident will work directly with KelseyCare Advantage, a Medicare Advantage plan located in Houston, Texas, and will be qualified to perform duties in the following:
Pharmacy operations and oversight management
Health plan design, marketing and quality improvement
Clinical pharmacy programs
Drug usage guidelines that ensure safety of medication use systems
Medication and practice-related information utilizing evidence-based practices, education and/or training for patients and/or physicians
Project management and leadership
Additionally, the resident will participate in University of Houston College of Pharmacy Teaching and Scholarship Program. With the completion of the residency program, the graduate will be able to excel in a variety of managed care practice sites such as health plans/HMO, Pharmacy Benefit Manager, physician groups and academia.

Formulary Management I (Coverage Determination & Fraud, Waste, and Abuse)

Pharmacy Operations and Networks
Community Pharmacy, Drug Distribution & Medication Safety, and Infusion
Elective (1) – Resident Choice; Options include, but are not limited to:
Health Plan Operations/Administration
Pharmacy Benefit Management
Health, dental, vision insurance
Personal Time Off
Participation in the Residency Matching Program, implemented by the National Matching Services, Inc.
Requires a PharmD degree from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy
Eligibility for Texas licensure and U.S. employment
