The School of Dentistry has an exciting opening for an Instructional Designer Senior. Dental Informatics is charged with providing and supporting information technology to faculty, students, and staff to further the School of Dentistry’s teaching, research, and healthcare missions. This is an opportunity to work for the #1 ranked Dental School.
The Instructional Designer will support faculty and administrators in the identification and use of best-in-class instructional technologies including cloud-based multimedia, simulations, and clinical hardware and software. A strong understanding of educational methodologies and workflows is desired in addition to current knowledge of learning technologies.
Develop training materials for enterprise-wide systems, that includes needs assessment, application assessment, deployment methodologies, integration strategies, etc. in a collaborative and diverse environment that will be used by faculty, support staff and students.
Determine appropriate technologies to enhance specific learning goals, including finding, comparing, recommending and piloting specific software and hardware solutions.
Collaborate with and/or lead information technology staff, support staff, and faculty to be both proactive and to resolve issues related to technology use in teaching and training.
Monitor educational technology developments, assess their functionality and recommend technology changes to enhance learning in both classroom and dental clinical setting
Provide support for other specialized learning and training for faculty and staff
Strong communication with a variety of stakeholders (faculty, staff, students) in a variety of contexts (verbal, written, instructional, etc.)
Strong customer service skills, responsiveness to customer requests, and ability to meet the customer at their level of technological expertise
Strong time and project management
Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline such as education, instructional media/technology, or computer science
3-5 years of experience providing education technology administration
Experience working in a healthcare education setting
Experience with various platforms: Canvas LMS, Qualtrics survey software, audience response systems, and lecture capture systems
Experience with dentistry-specific such as 3D scanning and design software
Master’s degree in education, instructional technology, or similar field
