Inova Fairfax Medical Campus is hiring a new Senior Director of Nursing Services to oversee Critical Care, Neurosciences and Ortho-Spine.
This role will have 24/7 accountability for clinical and administrative responsibilities within these units. Responsibilities will include project management, strategic initiatives and executive nursing duties. The successful candidate will lead complex change initiatives and have a broad area of responsibility, with 4-5 departments reporting up to them. There will be a great deal of rapid cycle change and complexity of scope, so the position requires someone with a demonstrated record of successful outcomes and the ability to manage finance and productivity.
The Senior Director will assume overall responsibility for the development, coordination and evaluation of clinical programs of nursing care, education and research related activities for Critical Care/Neuroscience/Ortho-Spine units at Inova Fairfax Hospital. This individual will maintain a strong focus on the selection, development and support of the individual Patient Care Directors and Nurse Managers. In collaboration with the CNE, the Senior Director is responsible for the implementation of system wide initiatives related to nursing and model of care with particular emphasis on continuity of care, the nurse-patient-family relationship/experience and the development of appropriate accountability systems.
The Senior Director works collaboratively with other disciplines and departments to ensure that programs are well planned and that services are fully integrated to ensure a patient-centered, outcome driven approach to care. They are responsible for the developing goals and the appropriate management of human, fiscal and material resources within his or her division.
This role reports to the CNE and may act on behalf of the CNE in her/his absence and depending on facility, a matrix reporting for non-nursing related issues to Vice Presidents and Service Line Administrators. The Senior Director participates with the CNE in long range planning, goal setting and program development related to nursing. They will also work collaboratively with respective Physician Chairpersons, CMO and Service Line Administrators in program development and all departmental initiatives. The Senior Director participates with Senior Management in policy development and program planning. They will provide direction and management to direct reports and all employees in department as well as handle employee relations matters in coordination with Human Resources.
