Plans, develops, and implements a global sourcing and purchasing strategy across business units.
Directs the purchasing function for all materials, supplies, and equipment in support of corporate purchasing operations and goals.
Ensures purchasing strategy reflects diverse requirements and complies with all regulatory standards.
Provides broad leadership in sourcing processes that capitalize on opportunities for the business.
Leads the selection of vendors and other sources of supplies; builds strong and trusting supplier relationships.
Negotiates highly complex purchasing contracts; directs the assurance that all terms of purchasing agreements are met by suppliers.
Mitigates risk and promotes compliance by establishing and maintaining valued relationships with internal stakeholders.
Manages the identification and implementation of continuous improvement strategies within key processes.
Ensures the appropriate tools are available to capture data and information critical to decision-making in the organization.
Advises and consults with internal business partners on sourcing processes and procedures.
Develops, leads, and motivates management staff; sets goals in training and development, performance, and career planning.
Formulates annual operational and financial budgets as they relate to unit objectives.
Builds effective teams - Building strong-identity teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.
Category Strategy Development - Establishes category strategy using Total Value Performance approach to define the Supply Base and Technology Strategy to meet all current and future Cummins' needs; manages risk and inclusion of diverse suppliers.
Drives vision and purpose - Painting a compelling picture of the vision and strategy that motivates others to action.
Global perspective - Taking a broad view when approaching issues, using a global lens.
Negotiations Excellence - Utilizes tools and methods in negotiations to achieve Cummins stakeholder objectives and achieve a mutually agreed upon all contract terms between all parties.
Project Management - Establishes and maintains the "Balanced Triangle" of Scope, Schedule and Resources for a temporary effort (a "project").
Strategic mindset - Seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies.
Supplier Management - Assesses and enforces contractual terms and conditions; monitors key performance indicators throughout the term of the contract to ensure we reach the intended value of the contract; manages supplier delivery of product to Cummins requirements.
Supply Base Risk Management - Minimizes supplier risk to Cummins by proactively mitigating risks through use of risk analysis tools and risk mitigation playbook to manage three key risks including continuity of supply, reputational risk, and risk to our margins of parts by minimizing disruption and services throughout supply chain; manages and leverages supplier selection and dual sourcing opportunities as a first line of defense against supplier risk.
