The GMDP provides the skills, knowledge and relationships you need to run a Fortive business. Through formal in-depth Fortive Business System (FBS) training and on-the job mentoring, you will learn how to apply our lean, leadership, and growth tools to deliver meaningful business results. The program provides valuable networking opportunities with senior leaders across Fortive and fellow GMDP participants and alums. You will work for some of the best leaders in our company, who will support your development, provide candid and timely performance feedback and clear your path to growth in future roles. While in the program, GMDP participants typically move through three to four functional assignments product management, sales, marketing, operations, our Fortive Business System Office, and our growth and innovation program as an internal consultant (Growth Catalyst) on Fortive’s corporate team. but career paths are customized to you. Here are some examples of first assignments in the GMDP:
-Craft and lead the product vision from ideation through full commercialization.
-Design and execute primary research (“Voice of the Customer”) to identify and define new products, services, and business concepts that meet strategic objectives.
-Perform competitive and market intelligence analyses, including segmentation and opportunity sizing.
-Collaborate with sales and marketing colleagues to develop and execute a marketing plan, sales plan and account management process.
-Craft and optimize marketing strategy; analyze customer acquisition and engagement goals using performance data to drive decision-making
-Keep customers informed by leading end-to-end digital and physical touchpoints, including but not limited to website, social media, web and print collateral.
-Provide ongoing strategic insights by developing a deep understanding of assigned market inclusive of business trends, best practices, and industry developments
-Work across functions to convert leads from opportunities to wins
-Drive sales growth and achieve sales targets for assigned product lines.
-Manage and optimize sales channels, develop and implement standard sales processes and participate in company growth processes.
-Provide daily support for your team in their selling activities, including selling strategy, proposal development, pricing, account management, customer support and contract review.
-Work closely with cross-functional areas, especially Marketing, Customer Service, Engineering, Inside Sales, and Finance and Operations to align on commercial priorities and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and responsiveness.
-Translate customer requirements into manufacturing strategies and processes, resulting in cost-effective processing and profitable manufacturing of company products.
-Lead operational and strategic procurement, production, production planning, process engineering, quality, logistics, compliance and service.
-Define goals, improve technologies, ensure continuous improvement and resolve problems in partnership with managers across the organization against our KPIs of safety, quality, delivery, inventory and productivity.
-Lead performance and development of individual contributors on team, including operators, team leads and material handlers.

Greensboro, NC (within Fortive operating company Gilbarco Veeder-Root)
Are you a fit for the GMDP? As a Fortive General Management Development Program participant you:
-Aspire to run a Fortive business as a general manager or president
-Make difficult decisions with integrity, fairness and kindness; analyzes business problems with data and developing an action plan to address root causes
-Build strong teams around yourself and inspire them to accomplish extraordinary results (direct management experience preferred)
-Are highly analytical and not afraid to dig into tough problems (experience with complex analysis preferred)
-Develop and execute long-term strategic plans (experience preferred in setting business priorities and eliminating roadblocks to achieve goals)
-Masterfully handle time and priorities, shifting gears when necessary
-Navigate ambiguity and frequent change
-Are entrepreneurial with a “can do” attitude; action oriented (experience preferred in developing and executing strategies from ideation to implementation)
-Are low-ego and willing to share credit for success with team
-Focus on the customer (experience preferred in eliciting and responding to the voice of the customer)
-Are geographically mobile (required assignments in 2+ operating companies and 2+ countries during GMDP)
-Have 4+ years of experience (preferred)
-Have an undergraduate degree and are actively pursuing an MBA degree
