Reporting to the Associate Director for Classroom Technology Support, the Multimedia Support Consultant II provides tier 1 and tier 2 support for all Berklee and BCB classrooms. Schedules and provides preventive maintenance, planning, and consultation for the following service areas: audio visual/multimedia systems and services, events, meetings and public space technologies, classrooms, event planning, coordination and support, conferencing and collaboration services for meetings and distance courses. The Multimedia Support Consultant II will create and update both end-user facing and internal technical documentation and will participate in periodic project work to implement upgrades to spaces as well as to deploy new and enhanced multimedia services to the Berklee community. This position will engage and consult with various Berklee departments in the planning, support and setup of technology for college events. POSITION SUMMARY:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Through either dispatch or pre-scheduling, provide in person and remote support for a variety of technologies, systems and services including AV control and switching systems (Crestron and Extron); audio and video components, sound and projection systems, screens and displays/monitors, video and web cameras, amplifiers, Polycom systems, and any related peripherals.
Provide preventive maintenance, proactive monitoring and testing of systems and equipment to ensure readiness for classes each day.
Work with TR, Academic Technology, and BCB staff and/or vendor(s) responsible for system design and engineering to ensure our ability to support and increase ease of use for users.
Participate on project teams for planning and implementation of various media services technology related projects such as classroom and conference room refresh/upgrades, new technology roll out, digital signage, etc.
Maintain complete asset inventory and user technical documentation for all supported spaces, events and media services components, work with Training and Instructional Technology staff to update documentation and end user web pages for ease of use and training requests.
Provide in person consultation and coordination for Berklee events requiring technology(Internet2, on campus conferences etc.), as well as coordination and guidance in advance of events.
Work with other classroom and conference room support staff, including Academic Technology partners

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED:
Bachelor's degree and 3 - 5 years of experience in the direct delivery of Audio Video support, previous experience working in higher education a plus.
Strong technical and troubleshooting skills in the configuration and troubleshooting of Mac OS 10.0 and above, Microsoft Office Suite, peripherals.
Strong technical and troubleshooting skills in the configuration, installation and troubleshooting of audiovisual control systems and components including wiring terminations, documentation, wire schedules, and schematics.
Demonstrated specialized knowledge of Macintosh operating system as well as Apple hardware.
Working knowledge of local area networks and network administration and specialized knowledge of TCP/IP and wireless networking protocols.
Strong understanding of Apple iOS.
Strong technical and analytical skills.
Strong interpersonal skills in dealing with a wide range of clients with varying levels of computer familiarity.
Ability to translate technical instructions into easily understood steps to diverse client base.
Ability to interact, communicate and work well with others;

Required, up-to-date certifications:
Cisco CCENT or related experience/training in the design, management, and deployment of networked AV systems(Crestron NVX, Extron DTP, Dante, AVB).
One or more Apple Certifications as necessary.
Demonstrated knowledge of, and an affinity for, the specialized software and hardware used in contemporary music education.
Understanding of music, musical terms, and notation.
Broad understanding of MIDI technology and hardware.
Understanding of audio signal flow and basic audio engineering concepts.
Strong understanding of the following applications: ProTools, Reason, Finale, Digital Performer, NI Komplete, Waves, Logic (list will change with curriculum).
Broad understanding of digital and analog audio hardware, software synthesizers, sound libraries, and plugins.
Specialized knowledge of mobile devices and their use at the college.
Strong written and verbal communication skills. Must be creative, detail-oriented, responsive to direction, and receptive to feedback.
The ability to learn existing and emerging computer technologies quickly.
Additional relevant certifications preferred
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS, ETC. (Responsible for on-call, 24 HR. coverage, etc.):
May be required to work additional hours when under periods of high call volume, start of semesters, when classroom or conference room availability is limited for renovation or repair, or confronted with emergency, critical, or unusual circumstances.
Ability to adhere to defined blackout periods as necessary.
